There is a learning curve of your not up on old and new TV entertainment components! LOVE THIS BOX!
While there is a bit of a learning curve because of all the settings available on this device, I could not be happier with the results! It had allowed me to integrate all my older equipment with the newest fangle gadgets available today! I hooked up everything when the box arrived and... Nothing worked... Haha it was my fault as I hurried to get it all connected. I made several mistakes which cost me a lot of time. There are several settings on this Box that you must understand in order to get it working properly however once you understand the settings, it's very easy to hook everything up properly and the quality of the picture is OUTSTANDING!I am in love with my 65in HD TV again! I connected my ATT cable box, my 5.1 surround sound stereo, the Roku, the Xbox and Google Chrome TV stick AND, my Bluray DVD player all through an additional powered HD switch box.The picture as stated is PERFECT AMAZING HD!I am truly amazed how great the picture is now, comparatively speaking!Because I wasn't able to get audio through all of the devices through a switch Box to work properly,I was able to run all the audio, through this box and it works great!Solved all of my HDMI cable, RCA and Digital Fiber Optic cable sound issues! LOVE this box!Worth every damn penny and solved most, if not all of my audio connection issues in one way or another!5 stars and well deserved!Occasionly if one of the hardware boxes or TV, "times out", from sitting unused for to long, it takes a little monkying and switching, to get the sound back but eventually with enough messing around I figured out in a minute or 2. Just FYI.It's not the box. It's the video component which is the culprit generally. Switching from one component to another and then back to the original one you're trying to get working usually fixes the audio problem... if you're going directly out to a television or surround stereo system I mean.Again, this box works great but you do have to know which connections to use with which equipment. If it doesnt work, try a different type of connector if possible. Love this box! Its fantastic!

Perfect for getting Dolby Digital 5.1 to Sonos Beam
I bought this product because I have an older LCD that doesn’t have an HDMI ARC connection, nor will it pass through a Dolby Digital 5.1 signal from its optical output, so I was unable to get a DD 5.1 signal sent to my Sonos Beam. As owners of their products may know, Sonos will only output/receive stereo or Dolby Digital 5.1. It won’t do DTS, Dolby Digital Plus or Atmos. This product helped me get that DD 5.1 signal, but there are some things you need to be aware of. It won’t convert audio for you. I have a Samsung Blu-ray player that will convert DTS and DD+ to DD 5.1 and pass that signal to the iArkPower over HDMI. I have the BR player connected to the iArk by HDMI, an HDMI cable outputting the video signal from the iArkto my TV, and an optical out from the iArk going to my Sonos Beam. I also have a cable box and a Roku 3 hooked up to the iArk and it works perfectly. If there is a DD 5.1 signal coming into the iArk, it will pass it to the Beam.ONE THING TO BE AWARE OF: Netflix and Amazon Prime Video only output Dolby Digital Plus. I can’t get a DD 5.1 signal to my beam from a Roku 3, because the Roku will not do the audio conversion. As a result, I only get stereo on my Beam. Using the Netflix and Amazon apps on my Blu-ray player, though, does give me the 5.1 signal since it has the capability to do the conversion. As for the box itself, it seems to be of good quality. It is heavier than I was expecting, which is a good thing. The lights on the front are pretty bright, so you may need to cover them up. The box does HDMI-CEC switching, so you might even be able to tuck the box out of sight instead of using the included remote to switch inputs. As for video, there doesn't seem to be a degrade in image quality at all.For my particular use, I definitely have to give it 5 stars.

Works well
I tried two cheaper switch/audio extractors prior to this one and they failed, despite their promise, to extract audio from an Amazon Fire TV Stick. This iArk actually does work as advertised. It flawlessly extracts audio from a Terk DVR and a Fire TV in analog audio or TOSLink to my older Onkyo home theater receiver. The iArk physical layout is very good in that the connections are all on the back, and the switches and indicators are all on the front. The labeling of the front indicators is a bit hard to see and correlate, but you can make it out if you try. The remote control seems powerful enough to work at 15 feet distance if you aim well. The instruction sheet has some of the typical poor English but is still better than many.I rated this 4 stars but it probably deserved 4.5 The only glitch is that with certain menu operations being performed on the Terk DVR, apparently the iArk output signal is briefly interrupted and my projector starts researching for an input signal. Operating with Fire TV has been flawless.Having tried two poorly designed boxes first made me appreciate the superior design of the iArk HDMI switch/audio extractor.
