So I watched a video on YouTube about softening leather and thought I'd give this a try on my patented Doc Martens. I've had my boot for over a year and it is still very stiff and uncomfortable to wear. I thought I'd try this mink oil to soften the interior of the shoes as I guessed it would not work on the exterior. It did absolutely nothing. There is absolutely no change and I've already used half a bottle on both the right and left boot. I give 3 stars because I think this will work for other types of leathers but took 2 stars because the label only singled out nubuck and suede as leathers not fit fie use, and yet it has not softened my patented (interior) boots at all.

I bought this oil to help me break in my Dr.Martens boots. I brush the leather first, then heat treat it with a hair dryer to open up the pores; for the last step I massage the oil on and let it sit for a day or two. The leather became quite soft and has made the boots comfortable to wear. I give my boots this treatment whenever they feel stiff.I bought another pair of boots and plan to give it the same treatment but I need a new hair dryer.Tip: Make sure you close the bottle properly and store it upright, it will spill out.

I mainly used this to soften the leather on my brand new boots and for that purpose it worked great. It does shine the boots a little but it doesn’t really last more than like 24 hours in my experience. I used it on black boots and a brown boots and it did darken the brown leather boots some but again the boots just got their natural color back after a day or two
