Great product! Great value! Amazing results!
The media could not be loaded. Amazing product! We own a 2010 MasterCraft X2 with stock ballast plus additional fat sacs in both lockers and the bow. Prior to Swell Wakesurf Creator we would fill ballast on the side of the boat we were surfing and played around with % of bow weight all with disappointing results. We would get a sloppy wave with a very small sweet spot. We were constantly losing the wave; very frustrating. I watched videos and read blogs with 100’s of varying opinions on creating the best wave for surfing. I’m doing so, I stumbled across some different wave shapers. I picked this one mostly based on price (it was considerably less than some of the others I saw (less than 1/2 the price of some). When it arrived, I was initially disappointed. It seemed to me that it wouldn’t attach to my hull design below the water line (the X2 has a stair-step hull at the stern). But, once the boat was in the water with ALL the ballast tanks full, the water line lowered to the only spot the suction cups would attach to. The wave is beautiful: clean, long, and about waste high. No more losing the wave. No more filling one side and then having to empty that side and fill the opposite for the goofy riders. We keep all the tanks full and simply move the SWC to from one side to the other. The regular side wave is a bit better than the goofy on our boat. I assume it has something to do with the prop rotation. I don’t know that I have before and after photos or videos, but I’ll upload a video of the wave with the Swell Wakesurf Creator in place (I recently discovered wakesurfing; you won’t be impressed with the rider). The product seems to be well made and it floats! I keep it tethered when I’m use, but it’s good to know it’s not going to the bottom of the lake if dropped.

Works as advertised
I ordered this last week prior to a trip to Lake Powell, UT. A friend of mine bought the Mission Delta. The both worked exceptionally well. The wave was not only bigger, but much longer as well. Both sides saw a significant improvement. The Swell floats and is pretty easy to attach to the boat. We used it for three days and never had an issue with it. It is easy to attach and remove. We also ran it up to 20 mph to see if it would detach and it did not.Because we had this one and the Mission Delta we were able to compare the two. The wave enhancement was pretty much identical from what we could tell. There are a few things the extra $170+ gets you with the Mission Delta. The fit and finish is nicer. It comes with caps that cover the suction cups. It has a sack that you can put it in. The tether is also nicer. As far as performance and ease of installation are concerned we did not see a difference at all.Boat is a 2010 MB Sports B52 Wide Body.

You Get What You Pay For. - Swell? Not so much
Disappointed…If you don’t want to read a long review, here is a summary. This is not a great product, the reviews it has are very biased and very few were verified actual buyers (1 out of 42 at the time of writing this). It doesn't have the graphics like the picture shows - there are no decals on it. This is a cheap glass hauler with some glued together plastic riveted to it. It sinks, its ugly and it will rust. Worst of all - its dangerous - it has sharp edges, its a heavy item tied to your boat and at slow speeds, it pulls the boat slightly in the direction that it is attached to. I am sorry I am being so critical – I am just very disappointed…..Here is the detailed review -My friend let me borrow his Mission Boat Gear Delta wake shaper and I fell in love with wake surfing I have a Mastercraft Prostar and using the Delta allowed me to literally “let go”. With just ballast I wasn’t able to drop the rope to wakesurf, with the Mission Delta – I was finally able to let go and actually surf! How I got here -I am cheap, I drive old cars and yes – I have an old ski boat. When I looked on Amazon for the Delta, the swell popped up. The price was attractive, especially considering its going on my old ski boat. Of all the options out there, there are two themes of solutions – the suction cup theme and the Velcro theme. Even though I have an old boat – it does look nice and I didn’t want to put Velcro on it. Plus, that option is more expensive anyway.Reviews -When I found the “Swell” I knew it didn’t look as good and read that they didn’t float but I read all of these amazing reviews and thought it sounded like a good value. What I didn’t realize until now is that only 1 of the reviews of the 42 was a verified buyer. The rest of the reviews – who knows where they came from. Amazon – if you are listening, I think you should change your ratings to only verified buyers. It’s obvious that whoever is selling this is gaming the system and it’s not fair to Amazon buyers!Construction -The suction cup handle that this product is based on it made for hauling plate glass (see picture). Its not designed to go into water so I am wondering what will happen to them a year from now when they start corroding. Since buying this, I have seen pictures online of the springs rusting and there is even a company that sells aftermarket springs to repair these. I don't know how you will repair the metal handle though. The plastic portion was has two CNC cut pieces that are glued together with some kind of hard glue. For being glued together – it does seem surprisingly strong. Of the entire package – I would say that the plastic part is the strongest part of it and will last the longest in a wet environment. The downside to the plastic portion of it is that it has sharp edges. Make sure to take this off the boat before having people jump in the water. I am sure it could cut you open very quickly or damage other boats and property. The one I got has a few pieces of something inside of it that are rolling around in the metal handle. I think maybe they are from when they riveted on the plastic pieces? Hopefully it isn’t a piece of the metal casting or the suction cup hardware.Performance –The swell is physically smaller but heavier. The Swell did improve the wake but the Delta worked better without the safety and quality concerns. The Swell does not come with a leash – put one on or you will lose it! I didn’t remember to go to the store before the weekend, so I found some very strong woven nylon strap to use. It saved me from losing it but having a heavy plastic and metal object bouncing around the back of the boat is not cool or safe at all! I think this will be a major liability for Swell going forward. I did throw it in the water to see how fast it would sink and it sinks very fast. When you pull it out, water comes out of the rivets on the unit – so water is definitely getting inside of it which worries me.When using my friends Delta I did lose it twice. Both times I forgot it was on and took off fast. At just over 30 MPH, the Delta slid off the back of the boat. When I circled around to grab it – it was floating nicely with the tab sticking up like a flag – easy to see from a long ways away. The Delta came with a leash but I never used it as it floats and I didn’t want to deal with hooking it up. With the Swell, you probably won't forget as it does pull the boat to the side slightly at low speeds.Compared to other products –I have never owned or used the Ronix product so I can’t comment on the product or its performance on a boat. I never wanted to have Velcro stuck to my boat so this wasn’t an option. Since the Mission Delta launched, there has been a ton of “copycat” designs out there. From what I can tell and have read, the Swell is the least bad of the bunch.Yes the Mission Delta is more, but it looks nice, it works better, it floats if you drop it from the boat and it will last a lot longer. I have been reading online there is a litigation happening with these knock-offs so I am wondering how long some of these “copycat” companies will be around. If you buy one of these knock-offs with a warranty, it won’t be very good if they aren’t around to support you.Packaging -The Swell comes in a plain cardboard box with a sheet of paper with instructions printed on it. The packaging matches the product – homemade. This thing probably belongs more on Etsy than it does on Amazon.Summary -If you are shopping purely on price, this does help... If you don’t know if you are going to like wake surfing and are willing to buy a something that is basically a disposable product that will corrode and sink – this could be fine for you. Just be aware of the safety issues - especially with kids. If you want a durable, great performing product, that will last, I would suggest you invest in a better product, which is what I am going to do now.P.S. - I did think about giving this a two star rating but due to the safety issues ( I have kids) I couldn't do it. My friend teased me for buying this and kept saying "Gee whiz, thats Swell...." and then laugh. They have the Mission Deltas and I have Delta Envy....Attached the following pictures -1. The suction cups that are designed for glass - they also apparently like to hold weeds...2. The box and packaging3. What happens when you drop it in the water....4. The instructions - note - it does say to be careful of the steering with it on! It doesn't say that in the description of the product.
