Tingley mens G1 Steel Toe

The price is right
For the price, and based on my last Tingley boots about a 5 year lifespan, these boots are a good deal - plus safety toes. They have a pretty intense chemical/rubbery odor on arrival, but this dissipates to no or very low odor in a couple of weeks. For my narrow feet they are a bit wide in the ball of the foot and ankle, but they are easy on/easy off, and with heavy trekker socks they are fine for work in the garden all around the house, and for short walks if needed. Totally waterproof, so water or muck is not a problem. The tops are wide enough to tuck in even heavy sweats so they are protected and out of the way.

Sturdy, good value, sizing accurate
Boot is heavier than I expected, but I don't plan on hiking in them so no problem. I ordered/received men's size 12. In athletic shoes, I wear 12 EE so I was a bit concerned these boots would not be wide enough. However, they do accommodate my wide foot; comfortable. While the steel toe was not a requirement of mine, nice added safety feature. I have a 17" calf; these boots are just wide enough at that point for an OK fit. Deep cleated soles should provide great traction in snow.

Handsome, well made boots, but smelly
Boots are fine, well-made and sturdy. However, they come with a very pungent, sort of oily, petroleum based manufactured odor. You gotta wonder what these boots are made of AND where. I've never bought new rubber boots this smelly. Maybe rubber (or synthetic) boots were always this smelly and were "deodorized." With the glut of world manufacturing these days, I can understand how some third party somewhere forgot to deodorize them, or never noticed (shudder the thought.) And, of course, knowing how commerce works, the middle man (or woman) never even saw them, much less smelled them. I'm sure they will eventually "air out," meaning the odor will vaporize and disappear into the ozone. Meanwhile, I had to set them outdoors in the sun for a couple of days.... couldn't even keep them indoors.

Perfect fit if you size down
I got these for doing some trail work on my property that has some very swampy areas. I had previously gotten the size 9 boot for under $13 and although that is my typical shoe size, the boots are oversized to allow for very thick socks if needed. The pricing for these boots is extremely varied depending on size so when I saw the size 8 on amazon for under $14, with the steel toe, I figured I'd try them out. I still found them easy to don but the fit is much closer to my size 9 feet but still with room to spare for thicker socks. They do have that "new rubber" smell when you first get them but this lessens with time. Both sizes of these Tingley boots have worked out well for working in the mud but the smaller size is definitely more secure on my feet. I've had them close to the boot height in soggy areas without getting wet feet! Highly recommended for the price!

Great for concert
These boots worked great for standing in concrete... And also other wet materials totally waterproof. I like the fact the they are a stiff leg boot so they stand on their own and taking them off is a breeze when jumping out of the concrete so you're not drag concrete outside of the form. Would suggest getting some cheap insoles to put in there, makes them 10 times better comfort wise.

Good for dry surfaces but wears down quickly
First off. Size was good. I wear size 11 shoes and these size 12 fit well. The standard insole was not comfortable so also I recommend you use one you do like. The durability is good. 2 months in and no holes or real damage. The tread on the other hand, would not recommend for people who walk a lot. In just my 2 month time, I've run out of most of my tread on the balls of my feet. Traction before is depends on conditions. Smooth floors with wet surface does not work well.

great price and hold up well
i have had these boots for a while now and i use them all the time. i work on commercial construction sites in florida where its always wet and muddy. the boots are comfortable, they hold up well and they do a great job. the tread is good for climbing out of ditches we dig. even kneeling down is comfortable. i thought the steel toe would make it hurt my feet but it doesn't

Don’t recommend this seller
Updated- the “stiffness” I felt over the top of the boot ended up busting open with only a couple days of wear. Pro-Safety LLC refused to assist me at all because it “had been 30 days”….it hadn’t. So I had to go through Amazon for an A-to-Z refund and shipped the boots back.Love the heavy quality, only complaint is that the top of the boot over the top of my foot is pretty stiff and does rub some. Hopefully this will break in. But a minor issue, as the quality really surprised me! Will definitely order again if ever needing another pair.

Not good for winter temperatures
Cracked within the first two weeks of wearing them. They basically went straight to the garbage. Not good for winter weather
