I normally buy 800 ft. of landscaping jute twine for about $7.50 at the local hardware store, but I wanted to grab something off Prime. The photo on Amazon is not exactly accurate; the actual roll has a is less wide, and longer, proportionately, however that is likely irrelevant, but it did look to me (in roll size) like the landscaping twine, which is probably 3–4" wide x 4–5" high. I'd recommend a photo that includes a recognizable object (a hand?) next to the roll, for visualizing the size. The actual roll is 1/8" less wide than the cardboard tube in a roll of toilet paper, and is about 1-1/3 the length of that same roll. Granted, this rope is thinner than landscaping jute twine.If looking for landscaping twine, seek elsewhere. When I attempted to tie up branch bundles for green recycling, the rope broke over and over again.Note: if using for gift wrapping, decorations, etc., the product I bought is probably OK.

This might have been a miscommunication in how I perceived the ad for the hemp string but I didn't realize it would be so, well, fuzzy! I was picturing the hemp string used for necklaces but you can see that attempt was a disaster! I believe there is a string exactly the same as this one but that's VERY lightly 'wax coated' and it's EXTREMELY hard to tell since it's not in the description and the pictures look the same so I wanted to share my experience here incase someone else was about to purchase this with goals of hemp jewelry making in mind, this isn't the right kind! However, I believe this would be perfectly suited to wrapping around letters or boxes in that 'old timey' vintage style or as the hanging string for any type of vintage art or pictures. There's a lot of uses this type of hemp twine might have but is "hemp jewelry", in regards to the image that phrase conjures immediately into the minds of most people? This definitely not useful for that purpose! Hope this was helpful to someone!

The Christmas colors don't mention that it also has sparkly gold in it. Very cute. Not very big-- the spool or the string... but very cute for wrapping.
