My face craves this product. The C-esta smells so good. The sun protection leaves a nice glow on your face and your natural skin tone vs the white glazing you often get with other products.

... SPF products in the past and they are the best. I would have rated with 5 stars
I have used Jan Marin's Physical SPF products in the past and they are the best. I would have rated with 5 stars, but the vitamin C serum that came in this twin set was disappointing. The product was aged, hence the consistency was a liquid brown color instead of a serum.

Tinted Barrier Sunscreen Is Excellent, Serum Has Good Vitamin C Type But Has Controversial DMAE
This Jan Marini set includes an Esta C serum and a tinted sunscreen. A Vitamin C serum and sunscreen are two of my most important staples, mainly because sunscreen is absolutely needed as a preventative measure to getting skin damage and Vitamin C is an antioxidant that may decrease environmental damage and provide benefits such as skin brightening.I use the Esta C serum after cleansing and toning, and I apply the sunscreen last after my moisturizer. The Esta C serum is good in that it has Ascorbyl Palmitate. While the % isn’t listed, it’s a main ingredient as it’s second on the list after water. Ascorbyl Palmitate is rated “best” by Paula’s Choice and is a stable and excellent form of Vitamin C.This serum also has DMAE. Paula’s Choice rates it “average” and notes it has calming benefits, but it appears to be controversial based on conflicting research. Paula’s Choice states there’s support that it can provide “an initial benefit that improves skin firmness, but the[] results are short-lived and eventually give way to destruction of the substances in skin that help keep it firm.” I can’t say if it’s good for the skin or not.Esta C serum is an orangey color with a fairly thin texture. It has a lovely light scent that I think smells like citrus and something else I’m not sure about. The serum feels lightweight, isn’t sticky and absorbs well. One pump is enough for my face, but I use two pumps if I want to cover my neck and chest too. The serum feels pleasing and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. It feels soothing and my skin feels hydrated, smooth and soft after use.The tinted sunscreen with an 45 SPF is a broad spectrum barrier sunscreen. I prefer a barrier sunscreen as the active ingredients are less risky to health than chemical sunscreens. I love the tint as it’s a perfect match to my light skin once applied even though it seemed like it might be dark. It’s sheer and doesn’t add noticeable color to my face, but it does give it a radiant sheen or glow while still having a matte finish. It also makes my skin feel soft and moisturized. There’s no white residue at all.The sunscreen absorbs easily and isn’t greasy, sticky or smelly like a traditional sunscreen. I don’t smell any fragrance. The sunscreen isn’t heavy, but I think it feels similar to a light moisturizer so some may find it adds enough moisture over the serum to skip a face cream or may go with a lighter moisturizer than usual. I have dry skin, so I use it over my regular face cream. I don’t have any issues applying my makeup after these products.Overall, the Esta C serum is pleasing and has an excellent type of Vitamin C. But I’m unclear on the possible risks of DMAE, and the serum has a number of ingredients (mostly for fragrance) that that get moderate health risk ratings by EWG. For those reasons, I’m rating the serum 3.5 stars. The sunscreen is excellent in all respects and gets an easy 5 stars. My overall rating for the duo is 4 stars.
