The Nutcracker

I bought this book so my 4 years old would get more familiar with the story before we see the ballet for Christmas. We’ve been reading it while playing extracts of the music with each passage, which is fun.The illustrations are beautiful, and it’s a nice quality board book. We’ve been reading it over and over.

Such a pretty book!!

Loved the illustrations! Kind of wish they went with Clara instead of Marie, but I liked having the opportunity to explain the different versions of the story. My 4yo boy liked hearing a version of the story on Your Classical Kids Storytime (American Public Media), and while he got squirmy watching the ballet on a class field trip, he has enjoyed reading the book and I suspect it will help him enjoy the ballet more when we go next year!

the book is beautiful and the pictures are great - but they do not use the traditional names - like Clara is not called Clara but Marie and many other characters have different names as well

Classic story, beautifully illustrated for our granddaughter at a time where a live performance is not possible. A good accompaniment is the "The Nutcracker - Full Length Ballet by The New York City Ballet" on YouTube. Hopefully next year...

Beautiful illustrations and a lovely story. Gave it to grand nieces and grand nephews before going to the play. They loved it also

Granddaughter’s loved it as part of our Christmas.

This is based on the ballet, which is what we were looking for (the book sounds like a bit of a drag). The art is BEAUTIFUL. I love the way it invokes the performance! We also loved the facts at the end. Overall really well done - was a great Christmas gift for our kiddo. She loved seeing the dancers and the costumes and the story explained what the characters were. Some of them I never knew!

This item was delivered quickly. It is a Christmas present for my Granddaughter who loves ballet so am hoping she will like the illustration as well as the story
