The Kids Book of the Night Sky

I was curious about the stories of the constellations so I went to the local library to see what they had. I came across The Kids Book of the Night Sky and was enchanted. It explained about the stories of the night sky from the points of view of different peoples of the world. It also showed how to make a device to find the constellations in all seasons and times of night. I'm planning on spending many hours of the summer evenings outside the year star-gazing! This woulld make a great addition to a teachers library or even for the home experimenter. I purchased this book for my nice and her and I have almost read it from cover to cover and along the way did a number of the activities. This is a geat teaching tool, but I was not prepared for some of her questions that the book did not answer, so I would recomend to keep google close by!

I ordered two books on astronomy for a grandchild. The ordering process for both books was very difficult. I needed help and got a person (for both books) who were not in the United States. With one order I requested a supervisor and was put on hold for ten minutes. After ten minutes the line went dead. I called back and got a person who COULD SPEAK ENGLISH! I nearly gave up and didn't order the two books.

This book is just awesome, I love that it provides beautiful short stories, activities and wonderful facts. I usually don't buy book and just borrow from the library but I've borrowed this one so many times that I decided to finally buy it used.

I was asked to buy a present about space for my very bright 5 year old grandson who is reading very well. I read the reviews and thought this book would be great but apart from being to advanced for him, I found the presentation dull and the articles aimed at wildly differing age ranges. I have put it aside and give it to him in a couple of years time.

My seven year old really enjoyed this book! came with a lot of useful info but it felt a little loaded, that's why four stars. Also took a while to arrive..

Originally bought this for our 5 yr old grandson who loves astronomy. We read an excerpt from it every night and learn something new each time. It's fun to read something meant for a child and actually enjoy what you're reading -- instead of the same silly story every night. This book is easy to understand with fantastic stories. Highly recommend!

even though it's age appropriate it's pretty advanced. good read with me book.

Not as good as I had hoped for my little boy. No colour pictures and quite a lot of text for a little one. My son is 7 and loves all things to do with the sky and planets. This book was bought along with a telescope but to be honest isn't really appropriate for a child. I work in a school and children are very visual and this book does not provide the visuals and colours to stimulate and encourage the child to refer to and learn from. Content and subject matter are ok but not visually great.

The book is well illustrated with lots of the folklore associate with the constellations given in entertaining way.The book is for children of all ages (5-90) who would like an introduction to Astronomy.There is a Planisphere to make in the book along with lots of experiments to illustration the move,net of the planets etc.

Oh Dear! This is potentially a great book, but let down by sloppy editing. Haven't checked everything, but noticed straight way that the birth-dates shown against the constellations on page 101 are all WRONG. OK, if you're not too interested in astrology it probably doesn't matter, but it makes you wonder what else is wrong. Gave this one star because someone obviously put a lot of love into this book - but we can't recommend buying it until a revised edition is published.

Took a while to arrive. Had old USA library tickets on inside cover which was not expected. Quality of book though is ace for kids starting out in star gazing
