SWEETER HEATER Infrared Heater for Chicks & Pets, Flush Mount 11x40, 150 Watt

I have small bantams that I use this heater for during the bitter winter weather and it helps a lot. I like that it is a sealed unit it keeps the dust that the chickens create out of it. It’s a smart design.

Very happy this product is made in the USA, bonus that it's a WI company!!! Just moved some young chicks/keets to the coop from the brooder, they are not fully feathered yet but close approx 5 weeks old. Here in WI we are getting very fluctuating temps since it's spring...it can be in the 80s during the day, and in the low 40s at night. This is great because it doesn't heat the air, it just heats the chicks under it. So it's easy for them to go under it to warm up, but it doesn't heat the air when it's warmer during the day! It was missing the chain mounting option when it arrived, but luckily I was able to find some chain laying around to mount it. Very little plastic smell, literally went away within 30 min. Great product!

If im being completely honest I was very skeptical at first but I love how simple and safe this heater is. Heat lamps scare me and this makes me feel safer. While any electric device can be hazardous this one feels well made and completely sealed. My chickens and ducks happily rest under it. I expected it to make more heat than it does but that is because i am comparing to different types of heaters. It has been -20f and windy a lot so far this winter and my pets are fine. I like that it doesn't heat the coop as it would be pointless and wasteful due to the coop being properly vented. Even the heat surface feels safe for me to touch so I don't mind having it close to them. They can still get used to the cold and I can feel better knowing they have the option to warm up if they choose. So far I feel it is one of my best purchases for them. The heater is simple to install. Literally 2 small screws into the brackets and it is well secured and not falling. Then plug in. That's it.

If your going to use heat this is the way to go. No danger of fire, overheating etc. Chickens love it. If they're too warm they move off to the side just like they did when they were chicks. Most times when I go in the coop I find them comfortably under it. Def peace of mind for the negative Temps with no risk of burning down your coop.

Missing the chain to hang the heater

I suspended this over the perch inside the coop and they are happy and content at night - If my ladies are comfortable I am happy. It is not intended to "HEAT" the coop but rather is radiant warmth. But I do notice it is comfy in the coop when I have to sit in there to administer anti pecking medicine.Unit comes on at 45 degrees -

We have this over the roost where our chickens like to sleep. The heater is long enough to cover all the girls. I can touch the surface and not get burned, but still feel the warmth 8 or so inches away. Our unit's chains were missing, so I had to go buy some to suspend the unit, even though the instructions listed them as included.

The product works as promised. I do feel it is hotter to the touch than described, but I am impressed with the level of heat it provides for my puppy whelping box.
