A stunning lamp
What a phenomenal gift to get this amazing lamp that runs on oil just like in the time when Jesus was here.

Irritating flaw
This is a nice product. It's an unglazed ceramic, so if you're going to display it and move it frequently, you'll want to set it on something so it doesn't scratch the finish of the shelf/table/whatever you display it on. The one I received had a minor flaw that wasn't visible until I tried inserting the wick. A glob of ceramic - probably the cutout for the wick hole - was firmly fired in place inside the body of the lamp. While it didn't reduce the capacity of the lamp much, it made it a real pain to insert the wick, which seemed to lodge against that blob no matter how carefully I tried to direct it around the blob. Kind of frustrating. Clearly this is a molded lamp, but a little better quality control would prevent this; once the lamp has been fired, that wick cutout is a permanent part of the lamp.

It’s too small
I wanted this to use as an example of what biblical lamps looked like but I gasped when I saw the size. You need a microscope to see it in church. I would’ve paid more money to get something bigger if I’d known the small size. The picture definitely makes it look much bigger. I’m returning it and I wouldn’t recommend it!

Byzantine Lamp
This is not a Herodian lamp. It was not used during the time of Christ. It is a Byzantine lamp and was used by early Christians a few hundred years after Christ.
