Awesome
Does the job, and doesn’t cost as much as supposed “real” couches. This is indeed a genuine couche if you’re familiar with using a couche. Size is excellent; fabric texture is sturdy to hold the shape to carry at least 6 baguettes (depending on the width & length of your baguettes. As for cleaning/laundering, bakers’ couches are rarely laundered/washed, so long as maintained hygienically. They are brushed and wiped down in the process and use. Ideally a couche is only exposed to baking flour and remains only in the baking area, and thus doesn’t come into contact with much else except what is in the baguette.Prior to (first time) use, I washed the couche in cold water (gentle/delicate cycle), air dried it, and lightly ironed it on the lowest heat setting, to stretch/set the fabric to its largest possible size.So far, I’ve used it twice, and I’ve brused off excess flour after each use – and haven’t laundered it. No need. There’s no “off” smell or strange stains, and I highly doubt I’d put it through the wash & the same ironing process again unless it begins to have a strange smell or growth (such as mold, perhaps?), or a resident-cat & dog chance upon it, roll around on it, nap on it, and then if I’m lucky maybe wash the car and scrub the house floors with it.If the couche happens to make it back to its usual hiding place, I’ve no doubt that it IS sturdy enough to make it through those adventures. It wouldn’t look the same, but it happens to be that sturdy. But at that point, yes, it would also go through the same washing/ironing routine I did before my first use. Perhaps, twice.
