Try them! 😍 Especially if you’re in to costuming...
These are so underrated! They work so much better than the sponge-y ones especially for doing historical hairstyles or any kind of costuming updos. The smaller ones can also work for more of a casual style, you can get that perfect 60s/ 70s Gloria Steinem bump without having to tease the heck out of your hair. They also hold really well without clips- I shook my head around without pins to test it and it didn’t move at all- and unlike some of the other options they also don’t pull your hair out when removing them. For them to work best, ie. not fall out and not pull you hair, you do need to prep correctly. I don’t recommend using them on freshly washed hair or if you do you’re gonna want to put some product in it first, if your hair is too squeaky clean and has little to no volume then you’re going to have a harder time. If you have thick enough hair you can get away with using them without teasing at all, but you will wanna use some hair spray to keep the strands covering it in place just to make sure the bumpit doesn’t peak through later. And the last thing I have to say about them is they are super light weight and comfortable, I don’t really notice them at all. Give them a try, especially if you’re in to historical costuming!

I feel like you need thicker hair for these
I have lots of fine hair. My hairdresser makes me book a full color (3 hours) when I go in for my highlight root touch ups because it takes her such a long time to do my hair. I should be a good candidate for these kinds of products. However, when I tried to use one at the crown of my head, you could see the nude colored clip in clear as day. I teased my hair a bit and used some dry shampoo to pump it up and add grip before clipping these in, and I just Couldn’t get it to work without seeing it through my hair strands. The only way I can see these working is if you wore your hair half up and half down or in a ponytail and had someone else style it for you to make sure everything was covered from every angle. If your hair is loose and down, the movement of your fine hair will eventually part to where you can see it, which is why I don’t think it would work unless your hair is secured around the clip in. Now, if you have thicker hair, your strands might be thick enough to hide these at any angle. But I feel like these are mistakenly marketed towards people with thin, fine hair and it’s just not practical. I’m sad-I was really excited for these.

I want the lift!
I have a full head of light gold, shoulder length blond hair, which is super soft and new born baby fine. Gathered all together in a pony tail it’s less than ½ inch! It’s also poker straight, doesn’t take perms well or keep them long: I’ve tried many times. These days I fight to keep it tidy and out of my eyes, trying not to look like an old schoolmarm. I use talcum powder, dry shampoo, hairspray and curling tongs every day to make it workable.Having said all that I was tempted and excited to try the bumper hair lifts. The light color is perfect for my hair; they clip in well and comfortably. I just don’t have enough hair or body even back combed, to cover and hide them. Someone with a thicker head of hair could make them work as described and benefit a lot from their ‘lift.’ I do recommend them, even though I couldn’t make them work for me.

Does not work well with fine, thin hair
The bump-it slid right out of my hair no matter where I put it. So would not work for me, but might work with thicker, fuller hair.

I would also say they work better on people with thicker hair
I bought these for an outrageous photoshoot, and it worked well for me. Had a bugger of a time getting them out of teased hair, that's for sure. I wouldn't use these at any kind of regular event, they looked ridiculous on me, but that was the point. I would also say they work better on people with thicker hair, I tried just using the small one to make a bouffant and the grips stuck out the top, even when I followed directions. I attribute it to having thinner hair.Kinda sucks though, these are supposed to give you the voluminous look without having the voluminous hair type. They could work for you, they may just take some practice.

Too big and too small
I have not been able to use this. The big ones are both way too big (about 6” long) for my hair which is very fine. The small one is only 1” long and way too tiny. There needs to be something in the middle about 3” long or so. The construction wasn’t bad though - it’s made of solid plastic with tiny teeth so I think it would hold up if my hair was different.

Ready for some lift ?
These are great, and if you need some lift in your hair run don't walk and get these. Just be aware that there is no beauty with out a little pain. These have little 'arrow' like things grab on your hair. Like velcro, but hard plastic. If someone touches your head, they can dig in a little. If your hair is a little thin, the arrows can show through the hair on the top. This did not bother me so much, as the plastic really matched my hair color. No one noticed but me.

Not For Fine Hair
The product doesn't work in my hair, i have fine hair. I think the product would be great for someone with really thick hair.
