Awesome book and awesome pictures
Czech Fairytales is home to nine of the most beautiful Czech fairytales that have been handed down through the years. This book has almost the same words as when the stories were made centuries ago! The storytellers, Karel Jaromir Earben and Bozena Nemcova, were like the brothers Grimm. The stories are great, and if you are into fairytales then I recommend this book for you.My favorite story is Long, Broad, and Sharp Eyes. In it, a prince wants to marry a maiden. To get her, he has to free her from the Iron Castle and the sorcerer who guards her. On his journey, the prince meets Long. Long can stretch to be very tall. Later he meets Long’s two friends, Broad and Sharp Eyes. Broad can make himself as wide as he would like and Sharp Eyes can see everywhere. Finally they find the Iron Castle. The sorcerer tells him “For three nights do not lose the maiden,” and the spell will be broken. The prince, Long, Broad, and Sharp Eyes fall asleep each night and wake to find the princess gone. Each day, Sharp Eyes spots where the princess has been hidden by the sorcerer and they are able to bring her back before dawn. Finally, on the last day, the sorcerer turns into raven and flies away. All the people who had been turned to stone by the sorcerer are also freed. Then the prince marries the maiden. This is a great story in a wonderful book with beautiful pictures. You should really read it.
