Been looking at these for years and when this 2nd version came iut I took the leap. Had a speedy look through the online manual and found it easy to set up and get my head around.I use it to record sketches out of Ableton Live and add up to 5 at a time fx on the in channel and 5 track fx. There are some great fun fx on it that can really warp your sound.Then when I am happy i mid and match up ideas and record them back into Live.A truly transparent part of my workflow and has helped me get over many a creative block.The highest of high recommendations!!!

I'm a keyboard player and this piece of kit is not only great fun, but a great tool for quickly sketching out ideas for songs, riffs, bass lines anything. You could of course do this on any DAW, but having this right under my nose allows me to quickly "make notes" if you like and then revisit over and over adding more and more (and removing/editing) with ease. You could easily write a whole song on this. I've only scratched the surface with this so far and it is brilliant tool for creativity. Get one.

The RC-505mk2 is a step up from the original 505. Packed with features that you'll learn how to implement over time. Exceptional sound quality with its 32bit float recording system, excellent FX and included drum patterns - though it's easy to craft and import your own either from a DAW or directly into the unit. Linking Synths and midi as well as TWO phantom powered mic's adds hugely to its flexibility.Negatives: only the gloss finish marks easily, and the I/O section on the back is hard to see being black on black. Otherwise, it's superb.

Let me explain the title. This machine is amazing and can do a lot however the user interface is poor and overly complicated to say the least. Some effects aren’t as good as on the mk1 (robot is a good example) but overall is a better device than the mk1 due to the new features such as the osc bot, sequencer even some effects that you don’t think would be useful such as reverse reverb

Quality product complicated to use but bear with it and wow its the best loaded with features.

Nicely laid out and and I was sold on the concept of creating music on the fly. But I found that it needs a lot of menu diving to set up correctly and you’ll need to use a memory slot to keep your setting changes. The bug I found was that track 2 didn’t record even when selected and inputs were correctly set up. Such a shame! Sent back via Amazon returns and I have proof that it was delivered back by Royal Mail. But my return status says Amazon are still waiting for it. Contacted customer services who said my refund will be paid in the next few days. Still waiting!
