Worked great on three pairs of shoes.
I finally got around to using this stuff and was skeptical when I began the process. I decided to use it on 3 pairs of shoes/boots. The first pair of shoes was an old pair of Columbias that had a tag saying "outdry" (probably not Gortex) on them. The shoes were waterproof (after three years of use, which is crazy awesome) and did not need the application, but I decided to add an additional layer of protection. In the end the shoes were slightly darker than before (it made them appear new that way) and even more waterproof than before. The second pair of shoes were a pair of Salomons hiking shoes (the GTX's I believe) that had a problem with getting that wet look after a small amount of rain. They were water proof before, but now they no longer get that wet out look. The third pair was an old set of Salomon hiking boots (the G4 GTX's) that were no longer water proof and also suffered from the wet out look. After going through the steps, all of the shoes are now even more waterproof then before, and the boots are waterproof again. The applicators attached to the bottles are really flimsy and basically came off within minutes. I ended up using a tooth brush to scrub in the cleaning gel and the wax. I suggest having something ready for when the applicators come off. There is a warning on the bottle of shoe wax that says it may darken the leather. This happened for two out of the three shoes I used it on. I realize that this may be a problem for some, but if you are trying to regain the waterproofing of a shoe than these work wonders. If you are worried about how they will look afterwards then don't bother applying the gels. It would probably be best if you bought new shoes if you are at all worried about your personal appearance. For those of us who do not care, then I highly recommend this product.

Excellent waterproofer
Great stuff! I put this on my leather "waterproof" motorcycle boots that had developed some cracks and would leak. I also put this on my "waterproof" leather gloves. The boots used to leak through in the toe area during heavy rain and the gloves would get waterlogged after any significant time in rain. After carefully applying the cleaner and waterproofer following the directions (very easy), they both came through unscathed in a ride in heavy rain. My feet were totally dry. What amazed me the most was the gloves. I figured it would slow the saturation a bit, but they stayed totally dry inside. It was amazing. I'm not sure how long it lasts, but it sure works! There are a lot of seams on the gloves, as you'd expect, and the membrane that is supposed to waterproof them is between the leather shell and inner liner. Water would immediately begin to soak into the leather before this treatment. Very impressed with how well the Nikwax works. The waterproofer soaked in nicely and didn't seem to leave any residue. It has a sort of waxy feel, but it doesn't rub or scrape off. It smells a little, but not bad. I applied it outside, which is probably best. I'm not sure how bad it would be indoors. After it dries, it doesn't smell. I must say I'm VERY impressed with this and completely satisfied with the performance at this point. We'll see how long it lasts. I'll be getting more when I run out.

Excellent product: Keep your boots looking new for a LONG time
I use these products regularly. I work for a construction company. WHenever I go to a site, I use this before I leave home on my boots. My boots have looked new for years.

Great product
It's amazing how kwik and easy I can clean and then waterproof my boots and even better is the fact that I can waterproof my boots right before I use them, no need to let them dry 1st or putting on multiple coats so that they are actually waterproof.

Works as expected
Used this on my old hiking boots which had lost water repellency. The boots seemed to get lighter (could there have been that much dirt in them?) and after using the wax, the water beads and runs off.

Purchased to use on Motorcycle Boots
After a season of riding, my Oneal Sierra WP PRO boots appear to have lost some of their waterproofing. During a water crossing late last year, I found some water ingress after dabbing in a creek. I used this kit to clean and re-apply waterproofing to my boots with good success. They are now ready for another season of riding. I also had left over to use on a pair of Leather WP Hiking boots. I highly recommend Nikwax products.

Cleaner applicator difficult to use
Cleaner applicator difficult to use. Very little came out and occasionally a lot gushed out. I did shake it. Also pressed down on applicator to dispense. Also tried squeezing. Watched one YouTube video and was surprised the the reviewer had a similar experience, though he seemed satisfied once he squeezed hard enough.Wax applicator worked fine and I'm going to assume the waterproofing will work on my leather boots.Next time I'll use saddlesoap plus Nix wax. Saddle soap is also less plastic packaging.

Effective Cleaning but Flawed Waterproofing Applicator
The Footwear Cleaning Gel worked wonderfully. The applicator was great for applying, scrubbing, and generating suds.Unfortunately the applicator for the Waterproofing Wax is very poor. The sponge is very thin and not durable. It got worn down very easily on my first application by all the different edges on the shoe. I'm going to need to use a different method to apply the waterproofing in the future. My boots still leak but I may need to apply another coat or apply shoe glue to the toe.

Easy to use
I have treated 2 pairs of winter boots with this product, but haven't really tested them much yet. My boots are cleaned up nicely and look beautiful. I hope the waterproofing is good, because I don't like wet feet!! Our temps are way below freezing right now, minus 15Celsius or thereabouts, so there is no "water" to keep out.

Ruined uggs
The water proofer ruined my brand new Ugg’s. I followed instructions, my shoes which were a the classic light brown are now dark brown. A warning said it “may” darken leather so I was expecting it to get a little bit darker. But It drastically darkens. The suede isn’t a soft material anymore it’s hard and rough & looks awful. Haven’t tried the cleaner I just threw both bottles out.
