Very Good Game.
The Tormented Souls resemble mangled, humanoid bodies that are ripped apart and suspended by their own flesh in grated crates. They writhe in torment and agony, but cannot escape by any means. They have a great deal of blood about themselves, which is most likely their own.I look forward for a new game.

Just like good ol' Survival Horror
Played it on PC first. But playing in the living room on the couch its much better for this retro title. A real "hommage" to survival horror.

Survival Horror estilo antigo
Para quem curte a época da câmera fixa em Resident Evil. No geral a dificuldade é alta nesse jogo

A Love Letter to Classic Survival Horror Fans
This game is really special. It's essentially a love letter to those who enjoyed playing classic survival horror games such as the pre-RE4 resident evils (RE) and the Team Silent silent hill (SH) games. Tormented Souls is an amalgam of these two franchises polished with modern graphics. This game reminds me of Resident Evil Remake (which btw, still looks fantastic, even by today's standards), but now developed for modern hardware.Like many of the old REs, this game has its own version of "the mansion". The environments are absolutely gorgeous and reminiscent of RE1 remake's pre-rendered backgrounds. Objects in said backgrounds are extremely detailed. Unfortunately, the main character's facial features are not as detailed. This game also has its own version of "the other world", likely inspired by the silent hill games. These segments are every bit as harrowing as they were in classic SH games. The music is ambient and oozing with atmosphere. The piano melodies are especially hauntingly beautiful. The save room theme, in particular, is very soothing to the ear. After reading several reviews (from other websites) complaining about this game's weak combat system, I want to remind everyone: this is a survival horror game! The emphasis is not on combat, but rather on exploration and puzzle solving. Your starting weapon is actually very weak, but the monsters in this game are very tough. This is intentional by design. Your job is to explore every nook and cranny, read every text entry you find, and use everything you find to move forward in the game. Occasionally, some monsters will get in your way of exploring. You will have to decide whether you want to use your limited ammo to dispatch them so that you can comfortably explore the room they're in, or you can frantically run around mashing the x-button hoping to find what you need, or you can walk away in hopes that there isn't an important key item in this area.BTW, those said reviews also complained about the wooden voice acting. Are you kidding me!? How could anyone call this a classic survival horror game if it didn't have wooden voice acting? That's almost like a requirement for this genre!Speaking of the puzzles, there are a lot. And a handful are quite tough, almost borderline unfair. I think 95% of players will have to look up a guide at one point in order to get them, which is unfortunate, since you won't be able to proceed with the story unless you figure them out. I hate when a game requires you use a guide in order to move forward with the story.I had trouble with four puzzles in the game. They are as follows:-monkey puzzle-music puzzle-one of the keyhole puzzles-TV puzzleI will just say that for these four puzzles, the clues that the game provides are very lacking, and may even steer you in the wrong direction. So it's unfortunate that the developers decided to put these insanely hard puzzles in there because the rest of the game is sublime. BTW, there are no difficulty settings, unlike some of the silent hill games, which had difficulty settings for both combat and puzzles. This game has only one difficulty setting, and to me, it feels like "normal" difficulty for combat, and "hard" difficulty for puzzles. The PS4 version of the game runs fine for the most part. I played this game immediately after it was released (i.e., at version 1.00). There are a few minor issues I noticed. For one, moving thru some areas may cause a bit of visual slowdown. This especially happens if the area is brightly lit up. Two, in some of the mirror areas, the visuals are slightly greyed out, sort of like an added screen filter. This is intentional by design. What's not intentional is that anytime you hit the x-button to end text, the colors come back for a brief second. This may ruin the artistic immersion that the developers intended for these sections of the game. Three, the load times when you open a door to enter a different area are fairly long (about 5-10 seconds each). When this happens, there's nothing on screen to help you pass time, other than the name of the area you're about to enter. They could've at least borrowed the door loading animation from the RE games. Such a missed opportunity...***Update, and possible minor spoiler***Additional bug that I found: whenever you enter a new room, the music track specifically for that room doesn't play until about 10 seconds in. This is very noticeable in a room where you can save, as you won't hear the save room theme until after you've walked around for a bit. This might not seem like a big deal, but later on, there's a ghost enemy that randomly shows up in any of the areas you pass thru. You can avoid this enemy by using the music track that plays whenever this enemy shows up. You'll know that the ghost is around just by the distinctive sound track, which is played only for that enemy. So the idea is, when you enter a new area and if you hear this unique sound track playing, you can just turn around, go back to where you just came from, then turn around again and enter the door to the area you were looking to go to in the first place. Assuming the ghost music isn't playing anymore, you are now safe to proceed. However, due to the bug delaying the music track, it may be too late for you to know the ghost is around, and you may inadvertently run into the ghost (due to the fixed camera angles) and take damage.***End update, and minor spoiler***So everything about this game is fantastic, except for the few puzzles which will require you to look up a guide and the minor nitpicks mentioned above. The nitpicks do not detract from the experience, but the hard puzzles almost certainly do. Because of this, I thought about knocking the rating down a star, but seeing as how these types of games are rarely made anymore and seeing all the passion and effort that went into this game, and how the developers really stayed true to the formula of the genre, it would be a complete slap to their face if I gave this game anything less than 5 stars. Please support Dual Effect, the fantastic developers of this wonderful game. I am really glad they took on this passion project, and I hope to see more of these types of games being made.Lastly, shout out to JMMREVIEW (YouTuber) for recommending this game! Had it not been for him, I would have sorely missed out on this gem.
