Great For Target Audience
This is a good choice for a lay person's caliper. It reads accurately to the hundredth of an inch so obviously isn't for some master machinist out there but it's also priced so that the homeowner or other causal user can afford it.No, it's not a vernier caliper and I haven't any idea why the vendor says it is. It's as shown, digital and that's a good thing too for the intended market. Today as few folks can make head or tail out of a vernier scale as can read a slide rule. Same thing really. The device is incredibly light making it seem flimsy. I doubt it'd stand up to abuse but why should it? When calibrated against several objects with a known size, it read precisely to that hundredth of an inch which should be all that's needed for the typical homeowner or other casual user. If you are a tool and die maker (any of these left in the US?) this isn't for you, but if you need a quick and dirty reading for normal homeowner uses, this one can't be beaten. It works as expected

Surprisingly great!
These are great, especially considering the price. I needed a cheap 6" caliper for goofing around in the garage & after reading reviews decided on the YKS calipers. I work where I can check gauge calibrations & these arrived dead on, right out of the package. I checked .01, .05, 1.00 & 4.00 and they were dead on. Please note that these only go to hundredths (x.xx), so if your looking for more accurate measurements look elsewhere. They are also the "slide" type, no roller adjustments to sneak up on your measurements. But, for the price, for someone just needing a quick measurement, you cant go wrong. The "carbon fiber construction" is questionable, it seems like plastic to me, but it's not a deciding factor in this price range. I suspect it will wear & effect calibrations after much use, but, again, the price! I'm still giving it 5 stars & will probably order a spare pair.

Awesome micrometer!
This thing is great!I have several old steel and metal micrometers. They are expensive, prone to rusting, and can be sometimes hard to read. The more precisely-tight they are, the harder it is to dial in sensitive/nuanced measurements. This thing performs like a champ. It's made cheaply, and might well break before my more-expensive steel tools, but it costs a fraction as much. The ability to zero the measurements anywhere, and to have a digital display instead of trying to guesstimate the fractions between markings are huge advantages over traditional micrometers. The construction seems a little flimsy, but at this price, who cares?

A handy addition to my model building tools. These wouldn't stand up to constant everyday use in a work environment, but for the home hobbyist they will work good. I like the fact that I can toggle between inch measurement and metric measurement without having to reset the calipers. Hint for use, always zero these before taking a measurement they can wander a bit with their measurement.

Great for occasional use
Was a bit skeptical of this product because of the low price point, but the caliper works very well. It definitely provides enough accuracy for me to design objects to be printed in a 3D printer. If just plan to use this occasionally, this would be a great purchase. However, since the caliper is entirely made of plastic and may not hold up under heavy usage.
