Just what I was looking for - attractive, comfortable to use, and stores completely flat !!

I've been meaning to buy a pretty set of salad tongs forever, but it's one of those things that I never think about until I need them, which I did over the recent days of Christmas. It was too late to do anything about it when we wanted them, but after everyone went home, I came to Amazon to have a look around. I saw these and thought they were perfect. They arrived this morning, and I'm very happy with them.I love that they're made from a sustainable and renewable resource, the Acacia tree. Mine are a gorgeous dark color, which I just love. The spring mechanism is a mystery to me, I have no idea how it works, but it does! I think it's all in the brilliant cutting, shaping, and positioning of the two pieces because there's no sign of a metal spring that I can see. Of course that doesn't mean there isn't one, it could just mean that it's very well hidden.They're finished with a very smooth surface which is lovely to touch and hold in my hand. I can see where it would be nice if they folded flat, but I just put mine in a drawer that has extra space in it (yes, I have one of those, don't know how it happened) so it's not a problem for me.I would recommend these tongs to anyone who wants a pretty, well made, and functional set.

These tongs are nice looking, sturdy and work well, however, my only complaint is that they do not fold flat like other tongs similar to these that I've owned. They are difficult to store in a drawer.

Love these! Great for what I wanted them for...my salad. Nice lightweight but sturdy. Open wide. Grab great. Not like the ugly stainless steel ones that sometimes mess up or you have to push the button ... not anymore.Spring loaded and nice looking. The regular tongs are fine for the barbecue but not for salad. Whichever bowl you use (doesn't have to be wooden) they look nice.To me its the ease that makes these work for my household.I hand wash and oiled lightly when I first got them. I won't use them on meat. But thats just my preference. You could.Great tongs.

This is a nice design and decent wood quality. However, the finish on the wood is very rough and dry. I almost sent these back, but thought I would try improving the finish myself with fine steel wool. The wood smoothed out nicely and developed a nice sheen when rubbed with a bit of vegetable oil and buffed out with a soft rag. They look nice now, but pretty bad from the nanufacturer. If you don't want to do some finish polishing then I would not recommend. Otherwise, I like them a lot now.

These salad hands are great- once you get the hang of them. The wood seasons very well, and they look really attractive.When I got them, I was skeptical because the teeth are REALLY wide on these things and they look like they wouldn't work well with a chopped salad (or any salad with little bits in it). However, I discovered if you lock the hands together as you scoop up the salad, even the most microscopic of toppings is no match for these things.These look like they'll last quite awhile, just make sure to wash, dry and oil them after each use.

Great looking and functional easy for my clients to use.However…you do need to oil them to keep them from splintering. I’ve used and hand washed (not soaked) several times. The first few times, no issues. But now about every two washes and I use culinary safe oil, or coconut oil to keep the wood from drying out.

Like a previous reviewer I only received one of the two pieces. The sticker with the instructions seems old and the text on it is partly rubbed off. The item looks different from the picture (not necessarily worse, but different). The wood has less contrast, is less shiny and the edges are sharper. The tines are pretty far apart; I assume this must make it hard to pick up small ingredients from the bottom of your bowl. I couldn't test it though, because THEY ONLY SENT ME ONE SERVER INSTEAD OF TWO! Gah. Oh and there are black stains / scratches on the wood.

The product had a large chunk of wood broken off but was in a sealed envelope without the broken piece of wood so it must have been like that when it was packed

Very shoddy. I had to rub them with sandpaper. Not very attractive wood but there was an improvement when I rubbed oil into them. Having said that, they work pretty well.

The salad tongs I ordered have just been delivered, they were out of their plastic bag and are broken. The package was also torn. Most upset as they were to be a birthday present.

Just received and noticed a crack through that I'm sure will split through. Wondering if a new set can be sent? Other than that I do believe I'll be quite happy with it

Bought these to match a new salad bowl. Love their size, easy to use, will last for years.
