She not only describes the modes of the Western scale but she provides music for the same 12 tunes in each of the 7 modes so you can really hear the difference between each mode. Complimenting the music are anecdotal samples from years of research with her students for how each mode made the listener feel. Stella concludes with some good suggestions for improvising with modes. This book should be part of every healing musician's library.
