Very Satisfied
I bough these for my wife who always complains of cold feet. The first time she tried them she unplugged them after about 15 min because her feet were too warm. She was able to leave them unplugged for the next hour or so and she said her feet were still warm so they must provide some insulation as well. She is very satisfied so far. The heat runs the full length rather than just at the ball of the foot which is nice.

strong chemical smell and poor heating
These insoles have two main problems: they have a very strong, awful chemical smell and they do not get very warm. The smell is like a mix between diesel and plastic odors. It is so bad that whatever causes the smell seems to absorbed into the body through the skin. After handling the insoles for several minutes, I started to get a bitter and metallic taste in my mouth that lasted for hours, causing me to spit every few minutes to try to get the taste out.The item description on the Amazon product page states that "the temperature will reach up to 110 °F to warm cold feet in winter." The "user manual" that comes with the actual insoles states at one point the temperature of the insoles will reach 50 degrees F and at another point 77 degrees F. In my experience with these insoles, the heating is so low that it is very difficult to detect, with either bare feet or bare fingers. But maybe this is by design -- if they only heat to 50-77 degrees F, most people won't be able to notice any heating, even if their feet are in shoes in a cold setting. I find that the air-activated iron powder disposable toe warmers (covering a much smaller area) actually do produce a good amount of warmth and are a far better choice than these insoles. These are quite possibly the worst product I have bought on Amazon -- not only ineffective, but counter-productive (with the smell). I didn't return them because I had to open and use them to learn about these characteristics.

I might have found a winner! (update, not as great)
All winter long I've been trying different battery-powered devices to keep my feet warm. I have Raynaud's (horrible circulation to fingers and toes), and have really struggled in the winter. I kept making the mistake of trying to get better socks, but the mistake is that I don't have enough warmth in my feet for the socks to help. I needed something to make heat for me. I started off with heated socks, but they just aren't durable enough - I've gone through 4 pairs from 3 different makers and they all break within a week or two.I held off on inserts as I didn't like the idea of a separately strapped battery pack on my leg, and the ones with the battery inside the insert require the use of a remote control that I'm sure will never be in the same room I am. But after my 4th pair of socks broke, I ordered these inserts. After first testing them with the batteries they came with, I then tried using batteries from one of the socks that I didn't return - they worked! The problem with the batteries that come with these inserts is that they don't have any adjustment on the output - it's 100% heat or nothing. The instructions suggest that you turn them off when your feet get too hot - which they do. That was much more messing around that I want, but my sock batteries, with 3 levels of output, work great with the inserts. I put them on in the morning (about 6am), run them on low and they last me until at least 6pm.I'm now in my 3rd week using these and they are still working. It's warming up outside and I'll soon not need these again until next Fall. If I remember, I'll try to come back with a report on how long they have lasted me.So, I give 4 stars. A 5th star could be earned if they provided variable output batteries.Update - dropping to 3 stars. It's been 6+ weeks and the right foot pad no longer works - the wire has no electrical connention now :( A little pricey to buy replacements every month and a half. So I bought another pair and the right one stopped working just a few days after getting them.

Easy installation, and work well, Easy solution for cold feet.
Bought these to keep my feet warm in my extremely, cold barn. I wear 1000 gram thinsulate, boots, in the barn and was getting frostbite. These are simple to install and work just fine, as long as you are going to be out, for only 2, maybe, 3 hours. I spend two hours, at a time, working, in my horse barn and these do the trick. I recharge them when I come inside and they are ready, for the evening trip, 2 more hours, to the barn, in the evening. For simplicity and easy installation, there are well worth the money. Female, 105 lbs, size 9 work boot. I read a review about someone pulling the wires and breaking them so I am very careful and they have lasted almost two months, at this point.

Amazing!
These work great. Last for a few hours on a charge. Really warm but not too much. Seem pretty durable so far. I don’t expect them to last forever, but to hike in and sit in a tree stand in northern Illinois in the winter im pleased. Price is great compared to anything else. I’d recommend the heck out of these

Love them! Great for neuropathy!
I love these! I have neuropathy which is unbearable when my feet get cold. These charge quickly and keep my feet warm for at least 4 hours. Wish the cord was longer and that the battery holder was large enough to wear on my ankle.

not warm enough to heat toes in cold weather
The soles never warm your feet. I agree that the foot warmer gets a little warm, but not warm enough to make your toes feel warm in the cold. Im talking 30 degrees F and the foot warmers just dont do the job. I get they cant make the soles too hot or your feet will sweat too much and make you even colder but they just dont warm the feet, maybe heated insoles just wont work regardless of where you buy them. Battery lasts about 3 hours. the insoles are a foam but that foam compresses after a month of use and doesn't retain its thickness. The insoles are not uncomfortable though, I hardly notice them other than the wire that connects to the battery. These insoles are a great idea and i wish they were effective in fighting cold feet.
