The Chateau: 1 Paperback – 27 October 2020

My first read of Penelope Sky, and it the best romance thriller! A cocaine camp, they capture females to process the drugs. The accommodations are horrendous, torture and murdering a woman each week. Our main characters are sisters and Marcus, the different kind of kidnapper. There are a couple sex scenes, but they added to the story. A well written story that captured my heart, one I won't soon forget.

Wer Probleme mit explizierter Gewaltdarstellungen hat, sollte die Finger von diesem Buch lassen! Das Genre "Dark Romance" nimmt die Autorin wörtlich und spart nicht mit dunklen Momenten in dieser Geschichte.Gerade das jedoch, die Mischung aus Gewalt, Emotionen, Sex und Liebe, macht für mich die Faszination dieser Geschichte aus.Ich war gebannt von der ersten Seite an. Wer, wie ich, Fan von P. Sky ist, wird nicht enttäuscht werden. Ich bin schon jetzt gespannt auf die Fortsetzung!

This story is really like no other she has written. The hero is most definitely a villain and the heroine is most definitely a knight in a female armour. Raven has had to bring up her younger wayward self obsessed sister, due to their mother’s death. Melanie is head strung, but if she can get a free drink and attention, due to her looks. Raven is brave but considers herself the ugly duckling. Raven is streetwise and determined. Melanie is determined to get what she wants but as a result of her stupidity both get abducted, and finish way up in the Alps in a labour camp, processing drugs. Magnus is one of the guards who befriends Raven. No more willI tell as it would spoil a highly dramatic , barbaric novel, full of drama, torture, trauma, and sympathy between the prisoners. I read this novel in one day as I could not put it down. It was so absorbing and totally obsessive from the first paragraph. There is also some very tender, and combustible moments between the two main characters, but there are also some despicable ones also. The explosive ending leaves you breathless , much as the whole story does. A fabulous, energetic novel.

Loved it. A book full of suspense and anticipation, love, drama and a little confronting. Very different for Penelope Sky.

I’ve read all of Penelope Sky’s books (except the sequel to this is, which is next on my list) and let me tell you, I never thought she could outdo herself the way she did in this book!! This book.is.everything!!! I felt the main character’s every emotion! Her strength is unmatched, even by Pearl from the Buttons series, and she has been my favorite Penelope Sky heroine to date. But this heroine is so strong, she’s unbreakable. To endure the horrors she did, but never stop fighting, never giving up hope, and never giving into despair, that is the definition of unbreakable strength! Even when she did things I thought she shouldn’t, she did them with such conviction, never backing down, trusting her decisions and herself. She’s incredible!!And Magnus...as hard and complicated as he is....he is my favorite hero. Dark, twisted, yet there’s a raw masculine humanity unmatched by Sky’s other characters (even Crow, who I adore). And a deep seated love for family, despite how broken and twisted his must be. He’s intense yet terrifyingly desirable!This book is so intense, I couldn’t put it down!! I read it in one day and can’t wait to read the next installment. Sky weaves so much drama, intrigue, mystery, horror, suspense and yet counteracts with hope, strength, family bonds, and desire. It is just everything!! I can barely find enough words to convey how much this story moved me.I love Penelope Sky’s bad ass heroines, who go through every unimaginable horror, yet come out on the other side, defeating insurmountable obstacles. Despite the horrors, the love and passion and deep sexuality these women possess remain. This heroine is so strong, so fierce, she seems unbreakable. Yet possesses such a softness for others, especially those she loves! And to have such an equal hero, who though far from a saint, possesses such charisma, kindness and feelings toward the heroine, that he breaks every rule to help her. He put his ass on the line more times than I thought he would. But the betrayal he feels now...will it drive them apart forever? Will he ever be able to bring himself to forgive her?Tremendous job, Penelope Sky.!! If I could give this book 10 stars, I would! You’ve certainly earned it with this novel! Completely amazing!!!Definitely a must read!!! This will be one I will read over and over!!
