Uzuri gets up to more mischief!!!
This is book 12 in the Shadowland series by not only one of my most favorite of all authors but also one of my most favorite series It also includes two of my most favorite characters Master Z and his wife Jessica. In this book Uzuri Cheval, has been one of the Shadowlands trainees for several years and quite a fun character herself. Uzuri, can best be described as a beautiful unattached mixed race woman , she is a submissive, very intelligent, works as the head fashion buyer for a retail store, has a great sense of humor and is always playing hilarious tricks on the Dominants that she trusts at Shadowlands Everyone loves her but she has a secret history that she has been withholding from everyone including Master Z and he feels it is time she was helped with her fear of large men. Therefore he introduces her to Max and Alastair Drago to help her overcome some of her problems and possibly get a Dom of her own. Max Drago is a very large powerfully built white man, intelligent, protective, has some issues of his own, is a detective . Alastair, cousin to Max, is a mixed race dom who is also a very large man, a pediatrician, intelligent, and a bit of a sadist. Very good story about the problems that are encountered in not only a menage but also what they encounter as a mixed race trio. I liked the way they talked out some of the feelings that both Alastair and Uzuri have encountered as they run into bigotry in their daily lives and also make Max aware of these situations. A lot happens with some really hot sex, stalking, vicious attacks, knife wielding psychopath, jealous co workers, and so much more. I definitely recommend this book as well as all the others in this series. Love the closeness and loyalty of the shadowlands kittens as well as the protectiveness of the Shadowland Doms..

Uzuri's story!
If you're familiar with the Masters of the Shadowlands series, you've been waiting to read Uzuri's book. If you're not familiar with this series, what are you waiting for? Cherise Sinclair is a must read if you enjoy the dom/sub dynamic.Uzuri is a submissive and was a part of the Shadowlands training program. You've met her in previous books and she loves to play pranks on others and they're quite funny. Even the doms (who she's always pranking) find her quite entertaining. However, what you learn more about in this book is that when Uzuri came to the Shadowlands, she had some issues that she had to work out. Master Z has finally said to her that it's time for her to tell someone what her past. Master Z is the seriously hot, all knowing (he knows everything!) head of the Shadowlands. He's one requirement is that she must tell a dom and he makes sure that her best friend, Holt (who's a dom) is not around on the night she must talk. She decides to talk to the newly anointed Master Max. He's new to the group and she figured he would go easy on her since he doesn't really know her. That was her first mistake. Max is a cop and knows how to get information out of people. He's grown up with Master Alistair and together they often share their subs.I don't want to give everything away because this book is soo good and a must be read to truly enjoy it. The author's writing just draws you in. You feel like you could easily be a part of the Shadowkittens and you want the love they receive from all the Masters. This is such a tight knit group.Alistair and Max, the Dragon Doms as they're affectionately known as. They help her to confront all her issues and encourage and help her to develop the strength she needs to do this. They are so sweet and tender with her. Uzuri is someone who's filled with so much love and joy for all her friends. She just never felt like she deserved all their love back. It was so moving to see the other's finally get the chance to help her and give her the support that she so freely gives to everyone else.Of course, the sex scenes are HOT. Boy are they hot! The fact that you have to seriously HOT doms focused on her takes it to a whole new level!A fabulous addition to this incredibly hot series. I can't wait for Holt's story!

My first book from this author, so I enjoyed the story
I really enjoyed this book. I see many of the reviews saying the plot and storyline has been recycled from this author's previous books, but this was my first purchase from this author so I wasn't bothered by the stalker ex plot. I liked all the characters, Uzuri is a sweetheart and I liked Alastair. I wasn't crazy about Max in the beginning, he seemed too 'judgy' for my taste. He basically accused Uzuri of being a bad person because she didn't want a dog. Like, how dare she not want to be pushed into adopting a pet. He went over to watch her babysit some children cause she didn't want to adopt a dog. WTF? To be fair, I didn't understand why she didn't bring up what her ex did to her dog when she was telling Max about her stalker, but still. He also accused her of being "high maintenance" for having blue polish on her nails, but not having a spare tire. He was like "she has money to do her nails, but can't afford to fix her tires? Did she go to a salon or do them herself". First of all, it's her money and she can spend it how she wants. What she does with her extra spending money is her own business. Second, she wasn't planning on someone slashing her tires and running her over. It was an unexpected occurrence and expense. Third, she offered to pay you for the tires. He was just very annoying and judgmental in the beginning of the book. However, I did start to like him as the story went on. I did enjoy that this was an interracial/multiracial relationship. The author did a great job addressing the race issues, things Uzuri (and Alastair) experience as black/biracial people, things Max saw and experienced as a cop, the "hair issue" (I loved when Max was combing her hair for her!). The author did a great job with that. I wasn't really interested in the wedding at all, primarily because I don't know the characters or their backstory. I'd rather the book focused on Uzuri, Alastair, Max and their relationship.I only have a few minor complaints. It was a bit overkill how the writer would constantly say "the doms, the dom doctor, her dragon doms, etc." It was like "ok, we get it, they're dominant alpha males" or whatever. It was just too much. I didn't understand why Uzuri said she didn't have anyone to call after the accident when a few chapters earlier she had gone to get waxed with what appeared to be her friends. Like yall can go get waxed together, but you can't call them when you're in the hospital? Then I started thinking "well maybe they're just her 'work friends'" like people you hang out with from work, but not "real friends" you can call on when you really need something. Then it turns out Uzuri just wasn't comfortable asking people for help. It was the same thing when Holt was attacked in her duplex and again when she got the text from Jarvis when they were all at the hospital. I was like "why are you running away, your boyfriend's a cop. Tell him what happened and let him protect you." She did leave a note explaining why she was really leaving instead of some lame excuse to end the relationship, and she gave another cop her phone to see the text. I guess it was just her way of trying to protect the people she cared about, but she has two boyfriends and one of them is a cop, so I didn't understand why she wouldn't just tell them what happened. I also didn't like how Max would sometimes say he would 'beat her'. I guess he was joking cause he was never violent with her at all, but I found it distasteful to tell a domestic violence victim you'd beat her. All that being said, overall I enjoyed the book, the characters and their relationship and would even be interested in reading a spin-off about their relationship and see how it progresses. I give this book 4.5 stars.
