For certain applications this will work well. Looks good seems to be made well. Cleans easily. Size is nice. I'm not sure about the texture, it is too smooth for grinding herbs into a powder. I'll have to use one of my others. For course grinding pecans or peanuts. I think this will be just fine. I do like the lid though that's one of the reasons I got this.

This mortar & pestle is heavy, sturdy & gets the job done. I like it has a lid to keep items from kicking out when processing. I would buy this again!
