Chemistry meets fashion! These earrings are models of a molecule known as a Buckminsterfullerene, or Buckyball for short. This version is made of thirty carbon atoms in an elongated oval shape. Most naturally-occuring Buckyballs are larger, containing sixty carbon atoms or more (and we also offer earrings with those models), but smaller molecules such as these can make clearer and more elegant models. We also offer a 32-atom version that has a similar shape and size to this design. These models are 3D printed in bronze using an accurate model of carbon atom locations and bonds in the actual molecule, and are mounted on hypoallergenic niobium hook earwires.
