The Greeks S1

I purchased The Greeks and had the opportunity to watch it not long ago. I found the series interesting and learned some new facts about greek civilization. The presentation kept my attention and was entertaining, but there was one flaw. There were frequent comparisons between ancient and modern Greece. While this wasn't bad in concept, I feel it spent too much time on modern times. The series was already going to have trouble covering much of greek history given there are only three one hour episodes, so devoting so much time to the present meant leaving out too much about the past. It either needed to be longer or spend less time on the present.

This is an enjoyable show to listen to. I'm glad that it's still available.

This is a very entertaining, informative, connected to the modern world documentary that I really enjoyed. I felt the need to buy it since it was so good.

Admittedly hard to cover such a broad topic in a CD. It's a quick history overview for those who don't know much about Ancient Greece. The references to modern Greek Democraxy are less successful. The cartoons st times are too simplistic and a bit lame.

Saw it on PBS and had to have it. Makes you think about what inspires any human being to become great. Also reminds you that government is supposed to work for us. Not the other way around....

I have been teaching my kids history for 10 years now. It's so exciting to learn of new research! This documentary was well done. It was very informative, with graphics and maps to keep things interesting.

Good historical discussion on the roots of Western Civilization.

It is a supplemental video for my art history class. Delighted that it includes a contemporary section on the current economic crisis in Greece.

I loved this film.
