Freefly beyond - Virtual reality headset

When I received this through Amazon, I was very excited to break the packaging open and get started. Upon opening the Amazon shipping box, I was greeted with a very nicely packaged VR headset. The box didn't look cheap, as I've seen somethings I've ordered without seeing in person before purchasing. It contained the headset, a wipe cloth, an instruction booklet, and a sticker. I was impressed.Once I scanned the QR code, and figured out how to get my phone (Nexus 6P) placed into the headset, I started the App from the Play Store created by Freefly. I configured the positioning as the app suggested, and then loaded up one VR app after another. None of them looked right, each of them caused double vision which included headaches and motion sickness. No matter how I positioned my phone, I couldn't get rid of that. I tried the alternate QR codes suggested in the FAQ from the site, and also tried manually adjusting the phone based on configurations from other VR apps, but nothing worked. After reading some reviews, I found that others were experiencing the same thing with their Freefly headset. I subsequently sent the device back.Since then, I have purchased another headset which was priced exactly the same as the Freefly, and found that if I can adjust the lenses themselves along with the phone, I'm able to get it to work correctly. If the Freefly lenses were adjustable, I never would have had problems.I have an average head size, perfect 20/20 eye sight, and never get motion sickness (routinely have gone on roller coasters, and even a cruise). All the issues I encountered with this headset were because I couldn't adjust the lenses. You can take a chance and hope your eyes are positioned just right for this headset, or you can purchase another one. Someone said that it was pinching them in the nose area while the space for your nose is big the foam piece does cut into that space a little normal to medium noses might fit but bigger noses might get clamped down more. Someone said there was heavy fogging while wearing but there are 2 large slots which act as vents next to where the headset straps attach. You dont need any apps they provide there are many apps out there for vr that will work with any phone that has a gyro. Someone said that you can bump the headset and your phone would fall out the only way for your phone to fall out is for you to pull on the latch to open the headset or to push the orange button which is seated in a place where you cant really bump it.My review: This is probably one of the best experiences ive had with a vr headset. It is more immersive than any of the headsets ive tried. I will say this though i think this will need a higher resolution screen maybe 4k currently im using a QHD screen which is 2k or something. Since it does magnify the screen quite a bit you can almost see the color between pixels.

I've tested a couple different "casual" VR units (the mobile phone versions)....truth tell they are all essentially fancy phone holders. The Freefly is worth it if you have the money, but it won't offer you that much more of a VR experience, it's just better quality and more comfy. The issues I have with the Freefly is that because it offers you a much larger field-of-view, it means the lenses are "fixed" and can't be adjusted to an individual's eyes. This can cause blurriness and discombobulation for some users which essentially can't be fixed. It also means that entire VR experience can make some people feel sick and dizzy.Why then would I recommend the Freefly? Well, as mentioned before, it fits nicely and uses quality parts. Also, the dark space between the eyes in the middle of many cheaper VR units is nonexistent. So you don't feel like you're looking into a VR world through goggles - it feels more like you're actually there. This effect is done by basically makes the lenses a bit more convex which joins the two VR images a bit better, which can really mess with some people's equilibrium.Long story short, you might buy this and it straight up doesn't work for you because you can't adjust the lenses to your specific eye, and thus it's useless. But those people are generally the exception I find. Regardless, it's an expensive risk. I would absolutely recommend this is you have money burning a hole in your pocket since it's a really nice unit, but there are cheaper and totally effective VR units out there as well.

Diese VR-Brille ist etwas Besonderes. Kein Simpelteil, wie so viele andere ihrer Art. Die Verarbeitung ist ordentlich, aber nicht überragend. Auffällig ist die sehr geringe Größe des gesamten Gehäuses. Hier wurde nicht an vermeintlich cooles Äußeres gedacht, sondern an Funktionalität.Das Smartphone kann bequem eingespannt werden und sitzt dann recht fest in den gummierten Spannbacken. Da DIESER Hersteller mitgedacht hat, kann man jede dieser Backen verschieben,um so auf Knöpfe, Kopfhörer- und Ladebuchsen Rücksicht nehmen zu können. Durch eine flexible, also selbstständig erweiternde Klappvorrichtung, passt sich die VR-Brille beim Zuklappen an das jeweilige Smartphone an. So passen auch dicke Geräte mühelos in die Spannvorrichtung. Das gilt auch für viele Bumperhüllen, die das Smartphone dicker machen. Zusätzlich lässt sich auch im zugeklappten Zustand das Smartphone in seiner Position recht fein nachjustieren, bis alles stimmt.Die Brille trägt sich angenehm. Der Gurt ist recht hochwertig und lässt sich verstellen.Dazu kommt eine interessante Funktion, die man bei sehr vielen VR-Brillen leider umsonst sucht: Triggertasten. Auf der Unterseite der Brille hat man zwei Hebel, die jeweils ein weiches Kontaktfeld (ähnlich einem Eingabestift) auf das Display drückt. Damit kann man (wenn das VR-Programm das unterstützt) die Software steuern.Auffällig ist das große Sichtfeld, das andere preiswerte VR-Brillen oft nicht haben. Das liegt an den großen Linsen. Allerdings haben wir hier einen der beiden großen Nachteile der Freefly VR: Die Linsen sind komplett starr. Also kann man sie weder im Abstand zueinander, noch im Abstand zu den Augen verstellen. Das ist völlig unverständlich, denn viele deutlich preiswertere Brillen haben solche Funktionen.Der zweite große Nachteil ist die Tatsache, dass man die VR-Brille nicht als Brillenträger benutzen kann. Dafür ist das Polster für das Gesicht einfach zu schmal und zu flach. Da es auch keine Einstellmöglichkeiten der Linsen gibt, sind damit viele Brillenträger von der Benutzung ausgeschlossen. Ausnahmen dürften die Menschen mit nur geringer Fehlsichtigkeit sein, die dann auch ohne ihre Brille die VR-Brille nutzen können. Hier ist im Zweifelsfall Probieren angesagt. Was ich gleich sagen kann: Bei Kurzsichtigkeit mit Werten ab +-4 und nicht vorhandenen Kontaktlinsen, kann man sich den Kauf auf jeden Fall sparen.Die Freefly VR ist in vielen Details sehr gut durchdacht. Die Verarbeitung ist recht wertig und das Sichtfeld ist größer als bei vielen anderen VR-Brillen. Die konfigurierbare Einspannvorrichtung ist sehr gut gelungen, gerade, wenn man den recht geringen Preis sieht.Der riesige Schwachpunkt hinsichtlich der nicht vorhandenen Einstellbarkeit der Linsen, ist jedoch ein KO-Kriterium. Das gilt auch für die nicht vorhandene Nutzbarkeit mit Brille. Nicht alle Augen sind gleich weit voneinander entfernt und nicht jeder hat keine Sehschwäche oder komplett ausgleichende Kontaktlinsen.

Le Freefly Beyond procure une expérience VR unique ! J’ai utilisé d’autres casques, comme le Samsung Gear VR, mais en comparant le cout, le Freefly VR a finalement un bien meilleur rapport qualité/prix. Le casque Beyond est bien plus confortable, et Samsung nous oblige a utilisé ces applications spéciales VR, alors qu’avec le Freefly je peux utiliser presque toutes les applications VR pour téléphone, du moment qu’elles sont compatibles avec Google cardboard. Le beyond est super confortable et ses contours sont mous, du coup je n’ai pas mal quand je le porte longtemps, et il s’adapte très bien a la forme de mon visage. Par contre mes yeux ont tendance fatiguer après un certain temps, j’ai eu le même problème avec les autres casques VR. J’adore ces lunettes et je les recommande a tous mes amis, il y a vraiment des tonnes d’applications et j’en découvre des nouvelles à chaque fois !

parfait, facile a utiliser, le systeme de montage demontage du telephone est tres simple, ca a l'air plutot solide, po trop lourd et en tout cas bien accroché, l'application permet de calibrer facilement ce qui permet d'avoir une tres bonne image rapidemment (attention , pour la vr en general c'est tres important, pas calibré ca fais tres mal a la tete !!! ), l'angle de vision est tres large (mieux que les casque playstation par exemple, ca correspond plus a un angle "reel" ), en tout cas avec un bon telephone en hd ca rends tres bien ! manque plus que du contenu a la hauteur :), je dois tester avec steam pour voir la difference avec le casque playstation mais l'impression generale me semble largement au dessus pour l'instant (avec un ZTE axon 7 )

Petit comparatif :Je possède un Gear VR, un Freefly et un casque Elegiant.Un samsung S8+ donc une des meilleures dalles d'écran dispo sur le marché, le casque VR me sert car je stream (via trinus+tridef3d) mes jeux PC sur mon téléphone, et bien franchement, le Gear VR c'est de la merde, la taille d'écran utilisée par le casque est ridicule, donc screendoor effect dégueulasse. Le Freefly c'est pareil, ok, le FOV est soit disant de 120 mais franchement, une partie ridicule de l'écran est visible par les lentilles donc screendor effect et flou catastrophique sur 1/3 de la lentille dur toute sa périphérie. DONC je conseille pour ceux qui ont un bon téléphone et qui veulent profiter de la totalité de leur résolution WQHD de partir sur un casque Elegiant, Ok, le Fov est moindre mais au moins tout est hyper net, propre et j'utilise tout mon écran.

Insgesamt schönes Produkt - allerdings fing die brille an etwas zu kneifen, nach dem ich fuer laengere Zeit gespielt habe, es hat sich zum Teil angefühlt, als wenn ich eine Maske tragen würde.Ansonsten sitzt sie gut und fest. Was nur etwas komisch war, war das ich probleme mit den Gläsern hatte. Einige Spiele schienen glasklar, bei anderen wiederum hatte ich Probleme, die texte lesen zu können. Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob es an meinen Augen liegt oder an der Brille bzw. meinem handy. Ich würde dem Produkt vier sterne geben, wenn es etwas preiswerter wäre.
