Easy to install. Fit my hot water tank perfectly. Since my hot water tank is accessed through an outside door having adequate insulation increases the efficiency of the hot water tank and saves on propane consumption.

The only flaw that I can admit that this product has is lack of instruction on how to install it around the tank. I noticed from one day to the next a huge difference in the performance of my water heater. I’m a single dad with only one child, our unit is a 40 gallon gas heater water heater. It used to take running the sink in the evening for a little bit so that the heater would cycle on and then waiting a little bit after to get into the shower before I insulated it. Now that it is insulated there is no longer a need to do anything that shouldn’t have to be done to have a hot shower or hot water in general throughout the day, I actually needed to turn down the temperature of the water heater because the water was too hot. There has not been one time that we have run out of hot water while showering or drawing a bath since installing this insulation. My only regret is not putting this insulation on sooner.

While the blanket appears to be made from good materials and it's mostly easy to work with it does not fully cover a 50 gal 48" tall by 23ish" water heater. You should know you are buying a universal item. That is where you must search to find out what water heater this actually fits. It took me about an hour and a half to install on a new water heater which was not fully installed. the time to properly measure and cut out holes for all the panels on this water heater was more time consuming than anticipated. the sticky tape paper guard does not come off in one continuous section, you have to chase it around some which is annoying when you are on the ground working on step one. Also read your Water heater owners manual, mine said that an insulation blanket is not needed and could actually void warranty. End result is that I wouldn't have purchased and installed if I waited and read my water heaters recommendations. Since I did buy it and installed it I will say the aluminized foam was fairly easy to work with (ex: cutting, folding, trimming, unrolling from packaging.) I also purchased an extra roll of aluminized tape. It wasn't needed as the product comes with it's own roll that had enough to get the job done, I used it, but I was looking for ways to use it. If you have an old water heater or an economic replacement perhaps you consider this product as long as you like arts and crafts since you should be cutting out multiple hole for all the panels. If you buy a quality higher end model, read the water heaters recommendations before buying

after installed i used a laser temp gun to check outside of insulation vs bare metal of the water heater there was a 18 degree difference. about to buy another and double it up. seems like when you turn the hot water on at a sink it heats up faster. less waiting.

The top portions are Pre Cut which helps immensely. I didn't use the tape backing when wrapping the HW Heater....just wrapped it and used my own Insulation tape.
