This rack Will not scratch your bike.
Love the bike rack I have my vintage 3 speed Raleigh Mark One on display at my shop. The rack works great up and down installing it was a bit challenging due the the 14 feet high ceiling at my shop. We used heavy duty anchors just for extra safety. The rack make the bike look like it’s floating in air great rack great price.

Make sure you get it mounted securely.
Quality of the materials is a little on the weak side.

This was my second purchase of this product and was very pleased.

Doesn't work on vaulted ceiling.
I have a vaulted ceiling in my shed. This causes the locking mechanism not to work. I could put 2x4's across the rafters to make a flat surface to attach the hoists, or just dremel off the locking mechanism, or use the locking mechanism down near the tie down point, and replace it with just a regular pulley. The tie off point doesn't allow you to tightly figure 8 lock the rope to it, but it seems pretty stable doing it like this. The big concern I have is the rope that came with one of mine came with a fray in the middle of the rope. I could easily purchase another from the hardware store for 8-9 dollars, but HF sells a similar product for the same cost as the rope. I've tried messaging the seller to see if they would send me new rope, but haven't heard a response. I've lost the box shortly after install so I can't return it. The pulleys seem to have a bit of friction but it could be because that they were installed in a vaulted ceiling.

Works but need manufacturing improvement
This product works but could be significantly improved by some simple measures. The problems with this product all appear to be manufacturer related cost cutting measures. The pulleys are not wide enough for the frame, this causes the rope to slip to the side of the pulley. The rope is very small diameter. In the included packaging for each kit is 12 screws and inserts, a full 10 screws and 8 inserts short of the holes in the frames and the cleat; you must supply the screws for the cleat. You must also find a way to secure the end of the rope to the frame of the mechanism, you can use the holes cut in the frame itself but I used the corner screw. The built-in locking mechanism doesn’t always work properly, and to utilize larger rope (in order to overcome the poor tolerances around the pulleys), you must drill out the locking mechanism's eye, unless you don't want to use the locking mechanism. As I said, poor design. An improvement would be wider wheels on each pulley, and a larger eye on the locking mechanism, along with a larger diameter rope included in the purchase. Instructions could use better lighted photos, detail cannot be seen.Despite the flaws, this mechanism does work. It will hoist and store the bicycle. Be cautious in high humidity, the sheetrock anchors may not have enough retention which may cause the frame to slip out from the ceiling and the bike to fall.It will take about 30-45 minutes to install properly.

Don't buy this product. It is very difficult to use, and it is too flimsy to be safe. The instructions are not great. It tells you to mount the brackets into a wooden stud, but they give you wall plugs with the kit. Duh. It was easy to assemble, but very difficult to engage the hooks and lift the bike without the assistance of a second person. The cord started to fray after a couple lifts. It is cheaply made and I did not feel that it was safe. I ripped it out and bought a 10 dollar bike hanger from Home Depot to hang the bike on the wall. Much easier to use and way sturdier.

Great idea to create more space
I installed this a few days ago and I'm very happy with it. The bike is out of the way now.
