Charlie the Choo-Choo: From the world of The Dark Tower

For fans of the Dark Tower
I bought this for my brother because he absolutely loves Stephen King and especially the Dark Tower series. This is the book referenced many times throughout by the Ka-tet as they travel towards the tower. It's creepy but also seems like a real children's book.

Perfect Addition
So my girlfriend is a huge Steven King fan and has all of his books. We were reading The Dark Tower series together (me reading it for the first time) and they refer to this book in one of them. After seeing that VSauce mentioned this book actually being available on youtube, I decided it'd be a perfect addition to her collection since I knew that she didn't even know it existed. She absolutely loved it, it perfectly depicts the description of everything written in the original book it was referenced in, and is a perfect addition to any Steven King fans collection!

Excellent for lovers of The Dark Tower series!
Please be aware that this IS NOT a childish’s book. It is a companion to the Dark Tower series by horror author Stephen King, writing under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. As such, it is dark by nature. It is a nod to a scene in the series where the characters are in a library. My mother loves the Dark Tower series. I bought this for her as a birthday present to go along with the series. I loved that it broke the fourth wall and it was a great addition to her collection. She was ecstatic with it. The quality of the binding is excellent and sturdy and the glossy pages really are reminiscent of a children’s library book.

Stephen King is my favorite author, and I've often said that if he ...
This is a difficult review for me. Stephen King is my favorite author, and I've often said that if he wrote a menu, I would read it. This truly *is* a childen's book, yet it is also Stephen King. I love the tie-in to his Dark Tower series, and have been thinking of how much a child who reads this will enjoy reading Dark Tower in the future (read Beedle of the Bard, then Harry Potter series). The children's book storyline is good - elements of perseverance, loyalty, patience, and true value. Charlie can be seen as The Velveteen Rabbit - being replaced by something newer, faster, and more enjoyable. Dark Tower fans will enjoy it as it sheds a different light on the "criminally insane monorail."The only issue is that I'm not sure how successful this is as a children's book in and of itself. I don't know that children today will be entranced by a story of a train. Having a train compete with all the other ideas in children's literature (particularly picture book), it certainly has a more narrow audience. For some, the illustrations may be a tad too creepy (the train has a Pennywise-ish smile that I enjoy, just not sure a toddler would). However, because it is from Stephen King and is tied to his Dark Tower series, I would be surprised if were not wildly successful. As a King fan, I do love how his writing has evolved over the years and how he avoids being pigeon-holed into any single genre. He is constantly evolving his craft, and I always enjoy it.I'll enjoy the menu too.

Charlie the Choo-Choo, Music and Good Wholesome Fun
Do you like trains? Have you ever taken a ride on a train? The author, Beryl Evans, has written a riveting book about Charlie the Choo-Choo, and his Engineer Bob. They both worked for the Mid-World Railway Company, and their route was from St Louis to Topeka. This was a very busy line, and Bob and Charlie were the very best. They were the fastest and the best. Charlie was a 402 Big Boy locomotive, and he ran on coal. Together had many, many fun runs together, until one day, Bob could hear someone singing. When you read this book, you will discover who was singing, and several other big secrets.Adults will enjoy reading this book to their children, and children who can read by themselves will also love this story. This is the kind of story with a lesson to be learned, and often those are the very best. This is a fun story that may elicit many questions from children. What is coal? How does a train run on coal? Who was singing? The illustrations by Ned Dameron are bright, vivid and colorful, and they depict Charlie the Choo-Choo and Engineer Bob in all their glory. What a wonderful life for both of them. And, now we have newer trains, but are they as much fun as Charlie Choo-Choo? As Stephen King, another author, has said, if he were to write a children's book it would be just like this!Recommended. prisrob 11-22-16

Surprisingly Creepy
This book is so unique. The story has this underlying creepiness that is easy to overlook. But then you have these feelings of "Oh, *that* was weird!" And then you realize *all* the illustrations are creepy. Even when the story with them isn't. The final page though, is undoubtedly creepy, and makes you want to re-read the book realizing what is going on.I bought two copies. One for my home, and one for my sister. Now I'm buying another copy for my nephew. This book is awesome!
