Brings back good memories
This book brings back good memories as it was my first card trick book when I was a child in the 80's. The tricks are simple and effective and require no slight of hand. They can be performed with just a normal deck of cards. The pictures in the book look a little dated, but this doesn't take away from any of the tricks. One of the more complicated tricks is still one that I perform to stunned friends after more than 30 years.

A Card Magic Classic at a Great Price
A classic and a bargain. Contains many excellent and easy tricks, though not the latest ideas and methods of card magic.

Lives up to its reputation
This is one of the cornerstone books for anyone looking to learn or improve their cardistry or magic skills. It is that rare type of book that retains its relevance over time and has been handed down from previous generations to the present and I'm certain this will continue for many years to come-so much of it is timeless.I was very happy to find that there is a Kindle version and that for the most part, it is well done. This is a simply amazing book in scope and quality.

Great quality and arrived very quickly
Great quality and arrived very quickly. If you think that basic card tricks are a thing of yesteryear then think again. Since very few people read magic books anymore you'll find many illusions never seen before in these pages. Great for magic of all ages and types.

The pictures of the steps are not the clearest. Requires trying the tricks over and over to get it right.

Old School
This is the original 'bible' for card tricks, published initially in 1950, so the language is rather archaic. Once I got past that, there's some great stuff in here.

Some very clever tricks indeed
I bought this for my 11 year old son who loves learning about card tricks. Some of the tricks are fairly complex to understand, given a few years and I'm sure he'll master them. The basic tricks are well explained and easy to learn, some are really effective when you have mastered. These are classic tricks from some of the best original magicians and card experts in the world and I cannot see him getting bored with it at any time soon.

The expert on cards
John Scarne is a very well-known card specialist in America and I have read his epic book on gambling which was very detailed and thorough. This card tricks book is very good and contains enough tricks to keep any magician in business. The effect of each trick is described followed by a detailed explanation of how to perform the trick. He also includes advice on patter and conjuror techniques which is much handier than some of the more simple magic books. Sometimes the explanations can be overly thorough, especially if you are an intermediate magician, but overall this book is well worth investing in.

It does what it says on the tin
The art of magic is over 5000 years old and card magic is probably the most popular expression - everyone loves a 'card trick'. Many magic sites sell 'one trick pony' card tricks that are generally dull, boring, and expensive - then there is Scarne. Armed with this little book and a pack of good quality cards, together with proper application of 'showmanship' you will be performing dazzling effects that will leave your audience spellbound and dumbfounded.

A Little Gem!
If you are interested in card tricks then get this book. The patter is rather dated as this book was written a long time ago. However it is packed with loads of interesting self working card tricks, so no sleight of hand required. The explanations are generally clear and easy to follow. Great for magicians or anyone who just wants to learn a few easy tricks to impress their friends.
