Best design on slipcase

Finally a complete collection of one of the greatest modern painters of the 20th century. Don't let the price dissuade you – if you are interested in owning a copy of this incredible collection, it is worth every cent. Beautifully made, it contains the entirety of Bacon's works including several unpublished pieces, an amazing resource for anyone to study and appreciate his work, and a wonderful addition to your library.

Over the years I have purchased numerous catalogue raisonnes. This set on Bacon’s work is one of the best. Wow, the quality is second to none in physical book quality and slip case to the writing to all full colour full page images throughout.Waited years to buy this set, but had always been US $1300 - $1500 range. When it tipped just below $1000 I pounced and have absolutely no regrets! Worth every dollar even if you could afford $2000. It’s truly a masterpiece catalogue raisonne.

This is a monster set of 5 hardcover books. The colour reproductions are excellent. My first impression is that this is as flawless a catalogue as possible. It comes wrapped in paper and double boxed with styrofoam bracing inside, and is very, very heavy. Book 1 has the essays which seem very well written and accessible. Books 2, 3, 4 have the paintings, and book 5 has some drawings and preparatory sketches, but is mostly bibliography. I really like how this is packaged in the slipcase, where there are dividers between each book so they never touch each other. I am so glad I bought this, but admittedly I got it at a good price here at Amazon.ca, otherwise I couldn't have afforded it.

My copy arrived today and it is as good as I had hoped and anticipated. After studying Bacon and his work for the past fifteen years I now have the ultimate reference book for the paintings: colour reproductions, with descriptions, of all of them. This is as good a print publication as I have ever seen. Thanks to amazon.ca, who somehow made this publication somewhat affordable. I hope that eventually this will be available in other formats so that more people can appreciate it.
