12 Steps to Raw Foods: How to End Your Dependency on Cooked Food

Surprised & inspired this meat eater!
My step sister inspired me to try a juice fast a month ago (which this book doesn't talk about, but it's kinda related), and I was startled with how great I felt afterwards. I felt so good, I thought I'd check out 'the raw thing' and ordered a sample for my Kindle. I chose this book because I thought the subtitle was somewhat ridiculous, which mean I wanted to say 'hrrrph' and dismiss it as crackpot fadism. I was so compelled after reading the first chapter that I had to continue. The first half of the book is really insightful and informative - about why 'live' foods matter, and how many of the ways we cook foods are very harmful (like grilling, my fav). Later she starts talking 12 steps, which may be necessary for obsessive eater types, but doesn't fit me - plus, I want to keep my future open to enjoy what I want dining out. I found her style of writing and the overall book very engaging and worthwhile. I plan to make some serious changes in my diet after reading this. Many of the things she talks about in here are small changes for me: eg. buy raw almonds instead of roasted. Inspired by her green smoothie chapter (where you make a smoothie with greens & fruit), I bought a Vitamix blender and have noticed how much better I feel, just making this change in the morning. I've read a bunch of other books after this on nutrition, etc, but credit her making the case so well that I really had to open my mind. Suspicious? try the first chapter!

Change you life with Green Smoothies
I've tried every type of diet known to man, and I have finally found the answer with green smoothies. I've had all kinds of health problems, but now I see that what my body really needs is more greens. Victoria Boutenko is so thorough in her research and her approach. Her advise about dealing with the other people in your life and outside temptation is also so helpful. Also be sure to read "Green for Life". Whether you can make a drastic change in your diet or just add smoothies to your usual eating, you're going to see a difference in your health and well-being. I am able to add even more greens than she suggests in her recipes. I pack my VitaMix full of kale, collards and spinach and zip them with two cups of water. Then I add two apples and two pears. It's so delicious, I drink it all day long, and I'm never hungry for "bad stuff". If I miss a day of smoothies I really feel it. Now I'm trying to find a blender I can use on my trips to Europe. Any suggestions?

Best way to stop getting sick and get younger, stronger and smarter
Wow, I feel awesome. Mostly I have not been sick and feel younger now at 43 then I did at 33. I jump out of bed every morning with energy, ready to start my day. I have now been eating 90% Raw consistently for 3 months. (The non-raw food I consume is 'ezekiel bread'.)No one is born with a stove on their belly, try this and you will see what the author and now I mean to share with the world. Once you know the information and once you feel the difference by eating raw, you can not go back to eating cooked foods since it does not achieve a feeling of health. Wow, talk about putting power into your hands! If you want to be a power house, you can do it on raw foods. Raw dairy, Raw cheese, Raw greens, Raw veggies and much more taste then you ever could achieve with cooked foods, not to mention the clean up is much easier then cooking. Just try it, you have nothing to lose! Oh, but you will lose one thing, extra weight.

Good introduction to the raw food lifestyle
I bought this book just this last week to figure out if the raw food diet would interest me. I had read a little bit about the diet on the internet, but I wanted to learn more. After researching a little bit I finally settled on this book. I admit that I was wary of reading it based upon the title, but after giving the book a chance I finished it within two days. It was very interesting, and easy to read. Not only has it given me some interesting and new perspectives about the raw food lifestyle, it has made me want to give the raw food diet a try! Her explanations about enzymes and how they work were very informative, and her personal stories about the struggles she and her family went through were encouraging. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in bettering their health. One reason why I give it 4 stars and not 5 is because some of what she talks about (i.e. the benefits of eating partially raw as compared to 100% raw) were only based upon experience and not scientific research. I would probably be more convinced of all the benefits if there had been adequate outside scientific research contained within to support her claims.

Just okay
This is an okay book to have in a raw food library, but I do not feel it is as much the ultimate reference as other people seem to think. I was truly looking for 12 steps to share with others trying to begin their raw food journey. Her "12 steps" do not seem like a simple approach so much as a few good points and a bunch of fluff. Granted, we do gain a greater appreciation for the earth and desire to live a more natural and organic life when we eat food from the earth. But, her 12 steps include: "I love you no matter what you eat" (Step 4) and "actualizing dreams" (step 8). I'd have preferred 5 steps that were succint and realistic versus 12 of which more than half are unrealted to diet at all.

Me encantó
Me gustaron las ideas para implementar la dieta cruda. Si bien creo q no iré al 100% da pautas que son fáciles de seguir y actitudes fáciles de reconocer y prevenir.

I strongly recommend to read this book that might manifest a change ...
Very inspiring book to read resonating with wisdom from nature. Those who wish to get a motivation drive to change their diet and discover a whole new level of health that comes with eating raw foods, I strongly recommend to read this book that might manifest a change in one's life for better. The benefits I discovered especially the physical ones , were things I never would have expected before.

bello!

Go for RAW and GREEN forever!
