Works/Looks great
This thing is solid. Holes are equally spaced apart, and it is exactly what I needed to make my viking sheild. Would buy another one if my roommates would allow more stuff in the house!

Sturdy hat for your shieldo
The stats on this thing:•3mm steel - 8G, which is great. A bit more weight than 2mm 12G, but makes it that much more durable.•8” outer diameter•5.5”-6” inner diameter, depending on where you consider the mountable surface to be.•I did not weigh it.•Comes shipped in a moderate coat of oil to keep the high carbon steel from rusting.Pros:•A chonk of steel.•Will take tons of abuse.•Looks great, well made, and puts the icing on your shield-cake.•I am willing to bet that the boss will outlast the rest of your shield, but that just means you can keep on refitting it to new shields.Cons:•High carbon steel will rust. If that matters, get a steel blueing kit to set it, or simply wipe dry and apply a light coat of oil until next use.•Might be too small for some hands to fit behind once your hand hold is cut out.•Yours may have some sharp edges from production that were not fully ground down; mine did. A Dremel will fix that.•There are some arbitrary “hand hammered” marks (I doubt anyone hit it with an actual hammer) that, in my opinion, seem unnecessary. Meh. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯Suggested modification:I wanted to use carriage bolts on my shield. The holes that are tapped into this bowl aren’t square, so some filing and Dremel work was in order. Not that many would care to go this far, but the rounded tops of the bolts are fitting for the look of the whole piece. The style is like rivets or domed nails, but carriage bolts make the hardware removal a breeze. If you’re going for authenticity of style, I recommend this fancy mixing bowl.

Sturdy and durable
It is surprisingly inexpensive for very good quality. No cracks in the metal from productions, the holes are uniform and in the right spots (1/4in size), and the metal is thick enough to hold up though many fights. So far I have tested it against poly-training swords, steel swords, and steel axes. None could even dent it! It's definitely fighting grade metal with some weight to it, and not weak stainless steel. The 'hammer pattern' gives it a nice look, even though it could have been a little less evenly spaces. The coating is good enough for most uses, but I heated it up with a blowtorch and coated it linseed oil to give it an extra layer of rust protection.I can recommend it, and will definitely buy more!
