If you are looking to store only 'the scanner', this case is for you, but if you also wanted to store the USB cable you should find another option.My comments pertain to the DS-740D only. I can't see how this case can store the larger DS-940DW as it is almost a quarter inch longer then the 640 and the 740.

Holds the scanner and accessories perfectly and seems to protect them well.

This case is not for this scanner, the more than 2 stars reviews you see here are plain strange because this item is not for this scanner. On the product pictures you can see that the cable is placed inside the mesh compartment on the top cover, well, impossible, if you want to close the case with the cable there, several things may happen, one is to tear the top of the case so the cable would be able to sprout out to allow for the pressure, another is to break the scanner so the cable can dig into the cave created with the exertion... or anything that can happen when you try to fit something into a space without enough volume to contain what you are trying to contain. Furthermore, you can't keep the SD card in the scanner, you would be risking the physical constraints of the card and also jeopardizing the functionality of the port, oh, but lets be fair, definitely you can remove the SD card and place it inside the mesh compartment on the top of the cover but definitely not the cable, that you would have to carry on your hand or another container. Keeping it hoping that the case will loose a bit with time and use (as it is mentioned in one of the reviews) the fit is so tight that it would be the same as not having the case, if something happens, it will affect the scanner directly as if there is no protective case, if you drop the scanner, this case wont absorb the impact, it will transfer it directly to the scanner, there is no volume left to allow for impact dissipation. If you imagine wearing your shoes 1 or 1.5 size smaller than your size, well, sure is possible to force fit them, but we know it wont protect your feet. Likewise, this case is 1 or 1.5 sizes smaller than the product.
