Versatile Stub Nib
My brownstone version of this pen has a very rich blending of colors, with a few pearlescent highlights. The acrylic is so thick that there is no need to fear chipping of the cap opening, even without a metal trim ring. The pen posts well. This is my second Conklin pen with their black stub nib. Like the first, it writes very smoothly, especially for a stub, and with a little attention to angle and pressure is capable of some extreme flex-like effects.

pretty good, beautiful colors, fixed
my big hand found the section not as big as it looked but it's not too skinny. the converters in this conklin and my last are flimsy, and the first one leaked at the place where it connects to the pen section. if not for this, i would have given it five stars despite the grip being less thick than it looked. the screw in depth, i think is off, you have to go in deeper than you would think, and then you worry about stripping the threads. if the converter wasn't so flimsy, it would not be so easy to over twist or crush the converter tube. lately, I've begun cleaning and filling the cartridges that come with my pens. because the cartridges are stiffer, they all seem to provide better flow and draw up air better, allowing ink to flow down without skipping or hard stops. the nib was smooth. Conklin, just shorten the metal converter ring it screws into, or better yet, get rid of threads in there all together. beautiful pen. ps. make one a few mm thicker, and give a hooded nib option, and you'd outsell them all. despite the issues, these beautiful pens are always one of my everyday carries. pps, you can engrave images on pens, make some affordable $45 or less themed pens, maybe an edgar allan poe, with a raven on it, or his quote about love, "I loved her for herself alone."I began to have trouble with inks drying out while in use. I tried a few different inks, but all dried out while writing. It turned out that the crescent moon opening, breather hole, was too large, I covered it in clear packing tape, now it writes lushly and sustains wetness better than some of my other pens. I was worried that ink would not flow, but the nib is very open underneath, giving it lots of air. Conklin, just shrink your breather hole. Edited 2023, November.

This pen has far exceeded my expectations! New top fav.
I have not owned a Conklin prior to this, and I am just amazed by the beautiful color, size, weight, craftsmanship, and amazing control of the nib (I did change out the nib for a Conklin Rose Gold Omniflex). The pen is rather large, so for someone who has smaller hands, be mindful if you do not like a bigger pen. Came beautifully packaged in a nice (faux) leather box with 1 blue and 1 black ink cartridge, and an ink converter. This will be a great addition to my fountain pen collection. If you are new(er) to fountain pens this would be a great taste of a higher end quality fountain pen without the high-end price tag. Well done Conklin.

Excellent Pen
I've searched for the perfect fountain pen for 20+ years and this is it. I've owned everything from Pentel to Montblanc, and I think this is the perfect pen for me. I prefer to use a pen unposted -- most are too short or too long, but this is perfect for my hand. I was worried about the nib, based on other reviews, but this pen came with an awesome nib. The extra-fine nib is not scratchy and moves across the page better than many of my fine and medium nib pens. I loaded it up with a Waterman cartridge and was writing immediately -- no skipping or issues with ink flow. I'll definitely be getting another one.

I fell for the hype
The nib on this Conklin is scratchy and the flow is uneven. It's not worth it, even if it does look cute. I fell for the body styling and ignored all the warnings about Conklin nibs, and now I'm disappointed. If you get a decent Conklin, you're getting an outlier. I have a Duraflex that writes nicely, and it lulled me into a false sense of confidence in the brand. But a million fountain pen nerds on reddit can't be wrong. Skip this pen, unless you're willing to do a considerable amount of tuning to make it functional.

My new favorite pen!
I absolutely love this pen! It's a big one - The barrel is fatter than most but it is not heavy as it is resin. I bought the Yellowstone model and it is GORGEOUS. I like a thick line so I got the broad nib, but it may actually be a bit fat for me - I will go medium in the future. I'm definitely going to be using this pen regularly!

Well-made body and cap; pity about the nib
The reborn Conklin Pen Company does a very good job of making fountain pen barrels and caps. Unfortunately whoever makes their steel nibs is not performing at the same level. The All American series is a large, cigar-shaped pen that fits nicely in the hand. The resin used has good color and a high polished finish. The threads on the barrel and cap mate perfectly, as does the grip section and the barrel. The converter is somewhat disappointing as average at best. If you are intending to use cartridges that is a better idea. The steel nib is a good size, but there ends the "good". Although it is fairly smooth on my standard Clairefontaine test paper, it is a completely unacceptable non-starter. Even freshly filled and dipped, the nib skips and writes dry. Each time the nib is picked up from the paper it reverts to not writing. Of all the steel nibs I have used -- including Lamy, Pelikan, Monteverde, Parker, Waterman, and TWSBI -- this is by far the worst.Verdict: a disappointing performance from an otherwise well-made pen.
