I improved on the trap
I got this trap for my barn. There are a few things wrong with it. It’s very small. If you caught 4 mice in it, they would probably bite each other, panic and suffocate. There isn’t enough ventilation. It’s dark and hard to see if there are mice in it. The tiny holes on the top will encourage mice to smell the peanut butter from the outside and they will make a hole to get to it.I covered the small holes with tape. I want the peanut butter smell to come from the trap opening. I cut a hole in the side of the trap and I cut the same sized hole in the bottom of a cat litter tote. I matched up the holes and attached the trap to the litter tote with industrial strength Velcro. You could use hot glue. I put a lump of peanut butter in the trap under the ventilation holes that are now covered with tape. Then I cut a rectangular hole in the side of the litter tote (the side panel that the litter tote snaps shut on) and drilled a bunch of small holes around it. I used a piece of hardware cloth (strong wire with small holes, not chicken wire) and folded it over so the holes are even smaller. I attached the hardware cloth over the rectangular hole on the litter tote using a piece of wire that I “stitched” around the perimeter. I have a heated knife so cutting the plastic was easy. Now when the mice go into the trap, they go through the hole and into the litter tote. I can catch lots of mice, they have air and I can see inside the litter tote. I gave them hay, sunflower and pumpkin seeds. I put a small piece of zucchini or cucumber in every day or two. I also gave them a stick to play on so they won’t get bored. When you want to empty the mice in a wooded area, just open the litter tote and dump them out. I think the litter tote is strong enough so they won’t chew through it. Keep them happy so they don’t panic and give themselves a heart attack.Mouse Lives Matter. If you are going to do catch and release, check your traps a minimum of 2 times per day. If you are going to use a trap that kills mice, please don’t put water in a bucket so they drown. The roller traps and walk the plank traps use a bucket. Using poison bait is another cruel death since mice bleed internally and suffer. Another animal (possibly your dog or cat or outdoor wildlife) might eat the dead or suffering mouse and will ingest the poison bait or the mouse could drop a piece of the poison bait on the floor and your pet or small child could eat it. If they die in your walls, they will have the last laugh because your house will smell like dead mouse and you won’t know where it’s coming from. Glue traps are very inhumane. Get a snap trap or electric trap if you must kill the mouse. If you use a snap or electric trap, put the dead mouse by the side of the road so a bird can eat it and the mouse will not be wasted.

Absolutely Useless! Not one mouse
I had tried for a month to catch a mouse with these, as they scurry around it. Still catching mice using the standard cubical catchers, still one at a time. (Same peanut butter, same places, etc.) seems like a good deal but my wasting time, getting and returning.

Works if you figure out the best way to lure and keep them in.
At first try the mouse was able to eat and dash. I read another Amazon customer’s review which said to put something heavy on top of the trap. Last night I put a weighted item on top of the trap and I also put the bait further into the trap than where the bait dish is located. The mouse needs to be fully in the trap so the ramp can close. This morning I woke up to find a little brown mouse in the trap. I immediately drove the mouse a couple miles away into a park and release him along with some cat food. I will repeat the process until I am sure all mice are gone.

It works
Saying “catch up to 4 mice” is misleading. I don’t think they mean at a time, one mouse has just enough room in there. I think it means the life of the trap is about 4 catches. We caught 4 mice, one at a time. (Two different mice twice each) . You have to check this every morning because if you do catch one it’s crammed in that tiny space with nothing to do except chew up whatever parts of the plastic it can grasp, and I would imagine it could chew right out with enough time. After every catch there is a little more damage than the last time. But for the price this is excellent. The top slides very easily to get the mouse out, and is very easy to slide all the way off to hose the mess out. Also very easy to slide back on. That being said, after this worked perfectly 4 times, it is no longer trapping a third mouse. Two nights in a row now all the PB is eaten up with no catch. I dont know what is going on as there is no hole, so my only guess is the metal trap door must not be engaging any longer. I will buy a second one to try because it’s under five dollars and has had success with the other two mice. This definitely will not catch a rat or anything bigger than a wood mouse.

Mice can get injured trying to escape
I used these traps for years without any problems. I didn't check the Trap one day and the mouse squeeze its way out but died immediately from ripping its fur off and probably crushing itself. I prefer the long tube ones.

Effective, easy to release and clean
These are quite effective for me. While I haven't used the newer, all over Amazon, tube types, I continue to like these and can't see a reason to switch. If you haven't used a live mouse trap, there are three issues: 1) does it catch mice (hopefully alive), 2) how do you release them and 3) (most important) how do you clean the trap after release. I'll admit it -- I hate mice, because they are such pigs -- leaving their droppings everywhere. You should check these daily (because I've found that mice thrive well if left in the trap for a day, but not well if left for longer), but whether they've been in the trap for an hour or a day, they will poo all over the trap. Once you release the mouse, that you can take the lid of these completely off and clean them out is a HUGE plus.

Mouse chewed through air hole overnight and got stuck
Overnight two mice got trapped ( I check it daily so it could not been more than a day) and one of the poor mice had tried to chew out of an air hole. He successfully chewed enough to fit his head through and got stuck. I had to attempt to cut apart the sides of the trap which did not work and eventually had to use small pliers to pry it apart. I was able to pull it apart just enough to free him. It was pretty difficult and I’m sure painful for the mouse as he was squealing and struggling as I did it. Thankfully he ran off I think unharmed. Still wouldn’t buy again though because it was really stressful for me and I specifically bought a live trap because I didn’t want them in pain or anything. Maybe it was a fluke but I am going to buy a different trap to make sure it caught them all.

Mice chewed through and escaped
The mice chewed straight through the plastic and escaped from this trap. Definitely prefer the metal ones now this has happened. Only left the trap for six hours and they'd chewed through. Disappointing.

Funktionniert einwandfrei
