Schlage 40-133 Home Secure Keying Kit

Q: Want to setup master / common / private keying for 10 locks (rental & home office). Is there a lower cost kit + master pins for Schlage?

I have 4 single family rental homes and two single family properties (primary and beach home) and found this is the lowest cost kit availalbe to support the 12 Schlage locks I have throughout. You should be able to write the kit off as a rental biz expense. Always save your original Schlage keys and locks as they can be used to re-key your rentals in the future as you have tenant turnover. If you need more key combination you can always ask your local hardware store if they have any Schlage keys which they will be discarding. They usually give me the keys. Or you can order additional Schlage keys on-line for a nominal cost. This gives more re-key combinations for the future.

Q: I'm new to rekeying, but have watched many videos and am good at figuring stuff out. can i use this set to rekey both emtek and schlage cylinders?

I have not done that specifically with this kit, but with my past experience using Emtek I feel that it is likely the case that you could re-key Emtek as well.

Q: Can i rekey a schlage compatible padlock with this kit?

Don’t know. Probably. You should simply ask Schlage directly.
