Exceptional Grand Strategy - a Hidden Gem!
I've been a fan of all the Dynasty games, especially the Samurai versions, fantastic lore throughout, great story telling. This is for everyone like myself that enjoys these games beyond the perception, they are just hack and slash festivals. I buy just about every Omega Force/Koei Tecmo games, they offer a great time and a ton of content. I was worried about how this game would work with a controller vice a mouse and I can't overstate how seamlessly it works, great implementation. There are 2096 officers in this game, you learn a lot of facts regarding the Sengoku period and the turmoil Japan endured. You are able to build a substantial amount of 3D structures within your provinces, really impressed with the variety. Fun tactical battles, you can join the battlefield as an officer and lead your clan against in-game AI rivals. The artwork is absolutely sensational, beautifully rendered, just amazing, the same can be said for the soundtrack. The amount of unlockable stories and campaigns provide endless gameplay, just better and better, the more you play it, the subtle intricacies you missed early on start to make sense as you become more familiar with the game. This is definitely true for the combat, each officer adds their own capabilities and "special abilities," all of your officers have their own specialties and unique skills they bring into combat. I also have ROTK VIII for PS4 as well, IMO, it's great in its own right, though my vote goes to NA-SOIA, as the overall best game. Both are highly recommended!

Very good game
I was pleasantly surprised as I was half expecting koei to pull a dynasty warriors and put in half the effort it would take to make game this fast. The game like alot of of series different and unique enough to stand own its on. The adding of playing as regular officers and not just copying rottk series is a nice change of pace. Adding in domain of what its like to have own land and still serving a lord getting own supplies but still having to offer up is entertaining. The new battle isn't too bad adding a more fast paced albeit still a little rock papper scissors style, but using certain skills, and abilities can help drastically change battle outcome. Also get a nice feel of upgrading castle, holding off an invasion of 12,000 with only 2000 troops because have elite castle changes you invasion and defensive plans for campaigns. My personal favorite is add own event mode, basically meaning on any scenario you can add own events that change course of game, from making two clans becoming allies, or having one clan absorb another or political marriages that never happen in history regardless whether you are playing with either clan. fans of nobunaga ambition this another great game add to series. Even for those new to series it should have enough of strategy and war to entertain those who enjoy strategy games.

Very fun if you like more civil control work your strategy ...
Very fun if you like more civil control work your strategy games. The military/battle aspect is not as deep as Total War but the civil aspect is deeper.

only for fans of the series
I played romance of the three kingdoms long ago on PS2 and remember enjoying it, I thought this would be similar but it is not. This game is a lot more convulted, I barely knew what to do and how to progress the game. it's also very very slow paced. I just didn't have any fun playing it and quit. definitely for fans of the Nobunaga's Ambition series.

Good game
I've always been a fan of the Romance of the three kingdoms and Nobunaga's Ambition game series. This game is a great addition to the game style and could keep a person busy for months if you're a completionist like me. The only thing I would critique is that I believe the makers should have put in an option at the beginning of the scenario selection that would allow a commander to experience the same growth and building options as a regular officer. The way it is, starting in a leadership position leaves your army at a disadvantage starting out because they don't have access to the same resources.

Nobunaga's Ambition Ascension
Wow, the additions to the base game are very nice. Economy is much more involved and takes longer to develop = very nice. Battles, including sieges, can be fought directly while controlling a unit. Sieges are no longer 'circle and wait' affairs as you can assault the castle itself. Also, may of your officers will have neat little requests, so the game plays better since you feel more connected to your subordinates.I've not done much with the retainer play style yet. I usually run a Daimyo right from the start. All of the base game stuff is here, and more. I really like Ascension.EDIT: Yes, it is in English voices.

Not satisfied
I am a huge fan of dynasty warriors and anything romance of the three kindgoms. I have played samurai warriors and I thought I might enjoy this game, but I realky dont have anything good to say about. I just found it to confusing and the menu system to be ver convoluted. I tried to get into it but the game was just so user un-friendly that I dont even want to play it.

Guys-great game...Gals of the players-annoying af
My husband plays this game for 12+ hours every single day he's home. While he loves it I don't since I can't get him off of it to get the trash out etc. So husband's great game! Awesome graphics! But to your wife only buy with caution if your man is like mine. Additionally the repetitive sounds drive me up the wall! Just my opinion.
