Excited
I was a little worried about purchasing the well because a lot of people said it wasn't air tight (and it's not) but now that I have it I'm glad I got it. It's pretty and even though it's not air tight it's still really cool. Plus unless you drop it on the floor the lid really shouldn't be a problem. One thing I don't like about it is since it's so small it's a bit hard to get ink on the pen, you have to get the pen at the right angle (which I should have thought of since it's so small). Over all I give it 4 stars, because even thought it's really cool, it does have some issues.

READ before you buy
It Seem's nice but is very shallow and did not come with any actual packaging or material information. I have no idea if I could get sick using it or if the metal is silver or even if it is actual glass. Again I do like the way it looks but it is definitely cheaply made and very shallow. To improve this product you need to make it fit more ink, buff the glass(my top is VERY rough), make the inside of the silver as pretty as the outside(again mine is rough on the inside), and tell customers what materials are actually in this product and maybe how it was made. Those few things are very cost affective and would probably increase sales. If you improved in that manner I would probably buy a second one. Especially if it FIT MORE INK...

Clear Cut Glass Inkwell
The inkwell was as illustrated and has already gone into service at the Pioneer Village were I serve as 1850's printer. If there were changes to be made, I would suggest a better seal between the swing open lid and the bottle. Screw on caps are relatively simple to produce and a lot more secure. The small clip is rather flimsy and does not hold the top securely. India Ink, tends to dry with exposure to air. Soon it becomes thick, clogging the steel point dip pens. As well the loose fitting lid will leak if the Inkwell is tipped. I had to make a square inkstand, into which the inkwell fit, to provide a more stable base. But still the inkwell is an attractive addition to the print shop

"Antique" is right!
I bought this because the ink I buy locally comes in a bottle that's too deep for dipping without a mess, and the size is perfect - my nibs barely touch bottom before the reservoir is filled. On the design: The glass is exactly as clear as it seems in the pictures, not cloudy at all, and the cap indeed looks like antique, slightly tarnished silver. It doesn't close particularly well, but that's not really a problem since the neck isn't watertight anyway. I almost took a star off for this reason, but in the end you shouldn't really be turning an inkwell upside down anyway (I know I don't), so 5 stars was the final verdict.Summary: No bells or whistles, but it's exactly what you see and a charming little piece for an office desktop.

Clear Cut Glass Inkwell
The inkwell looks nice but that's about the extent of the perks to this particular inkwell. The bottle is not deep at all, barely fitting the length of the nib for my pen. This leads to another problem, the bottle has to be filled right to the top for a converter to be used, otherwise it's not deep enough to submerge the nib to fill the pen without buying syringes to fill the converter by hand (which I did do because I wasn't going to let the ink just sit there uselessly forever). Filling the bottle that high brings yet another problem, however, as the lid leaks very easily. It didn't take much moving the bottle about before I suddenly had blue ink all over my hands and the bottle itself. If you're looking for a decent inkwell, look elsewhere and look for one that twists open and closed rather than a pull cap. Twist caps reduce the chance of leaks immensely and are /usually/ deeper bottles so it's easier to refill your pen.

Nice, shallow bowl, not secure cap
This is a pretty inkwell. I was looking for a shallow bowl to pour my Noodler's ink in (the only bad thing about the Noodler's bottles is their depth). The bowl is shallow, but not so shallow as to be valueless. I expect I will need to fill it about every three to six months or so depending on the amount I use my fountain pen. The only think I don't like is that the cap is not secure. It will close and keep stuff out, but if you knock it over, the ink will flow without stop until the bowl is empty and your carpet/floor is the colour of the ink you spilled.

Ink well opens too easily.
While I like the size of this ink well and find it handy for filling my pens cleanly, there is a problem that the metal flip top cap opens more easily than I like. Some small addition to make the top have to be closed with a solid snap would improve this item. For the person who prefers to dip their pen into the ink this would be perfect.

Lovely bottle
I bought this inkwell to replace a missing one in an antique writing slope that I have and it fit perfectly. Looks just like they were made for each other. I use a dip pen and a screw-cap bottle when I use the writing slope since I am very careful about spilling ink on an antique so I cannot say whether or not it holds ink very well. I do know that it is a very handsome bottle and looks just like a period inkwell.
