Just plug it in and bolt it on.
This $14 part saved me a couple hundred dollar service call and was so easy to install anyone who can tighten a bolt could have done it.When our Carrier furnace went out I decided to look it over myself rather then spend the money for a contractor that hopefully will be honest and fair. After some quick troubleshooting I found that the old igniter had cracked and needed replaced. I came to this listing after searching for replacements and at ~$15 it was a good deal compared to other sources that wanted $20-$30. I ordered it and after a couple days I had the replacement in my hand. I compared it to the original and seeing no differences I went ahead and installed it.All told it took me at most 5 minutes to replace the old igniter. The electrical plug fit perfectly into the existing wiring and the igniter fit perfectly into the original bracket. I plugged the replacement in, bolted it to the bracket, then finally bolted the bracket to the furnace. When I turned on power to the furnace it glowed orange and lit the burners no problem. I'm warm and I saved a nice bit of money.

Perfect Replacement for Norton 271M Furnace Ignitor
All of a sudden, my forced air unit was not delivering hot air. Upon checking the forced air unit, I noticed that the 24 year old Bryant 383kav furnace displayed an ignition failure code (the LED is visible through a small window in the enclosure). I used an ohm meter to determine the furnace's ignitor had gone bad (measured at 0 ohms when it should have been 40 to 75 ohms). The original ignitor was a Norton 271M and this replacement is identical to the original -- including the plug.I saved many dollars by fixing the furnace myself. There are plenty of videos out there that demonstrate the installation process. It's extraordinarily simple. Just remember not to touch the black filament. Apparently, the oil from your fingers can harm it. The only tool that needed was a 1/4" socket and driver.

Works perfectly!
Thanks for the pin connector image. It helped me to be sure that this was the perfect replacement.Just bad timing for mine to go out though, as I happily paid about $19 for it to get the furnace working again (brrrrr), only to see the price drop a week or so later by 57%!Nice to finally have it warmer in the house again than it is outside though.
