This is a mid-range home carpet cleaner: easy to use, limited fluid capacity, decent-but-not-overwhelming suction. If you want to clean your own carpets, you will do OK with this cleaner. Heavier and more expensive non-commercial units carry more fluid, have greater suction and are easier to empty, clean and fill with fluid than this Hoover. But those units also cost twice as much and take up twice as much room in your closet.This cleaner relies on liquid, a large beater brush, gravity and a vacuum to do its work. The weight of the machine supplies friction to the beater brush which follows directly after the water and soap dispenser beneath the machine. One forward pass is made dispensing cleaner and allowing the beater to work. A second dry pass pulling backward over the just washed carpet follows with the vacuum pulling dirty fluid from the carpet. You don't lean into it. You just roll the machine forward and pull the trigger on the first pass, then roll it and vacuum on the second.I cleaned carpets professionally while in graduate school, and I'm convinced rotos (floor buffers) with whips attached to the disk and fluid reservoirs holding cleaning fluid make the best carpet cleaners. You can heel a buffer into the worst dirty spots and really put muscle into cleaning, then finish by wet vacuuming. Steam cleaners get deeper by virtue of heat. This machine lacks the ability to heel of a buffer, and the heat of steam cleaning. But if you're going to clean your own carpets and don't want to rent or spend $1000 on a buffer, or don't have the skill to run a heavy floor machine, this will do a fairly good job. It doesn't heat the water--you have to get it hot from the tap--and its "HeatForce" warm air drying function strikes me as kind of a joke. But my father-in-law has used a shampooer like this to keep the white carpet in his living room clean for years despite many grandhchildren playing there.A few cautions:1. Watch out not to overuse cleaning solution when cleaning your carpets. I typically clean once with solution, then the next two times I clean, I only use hot water. Over-application of cleaning solution will cause carpets to attract dirt over time. Hoover charges a lot for cleaning solution. Don't overuse the solution!2. Vacuum carpets carefully before using this, or any carpet cleaner. Use of this machine on unvacuumed carpets will grind dirt into the fabric.3. Be careful to place plastic or aluminum foil patches under wood furniture placed on wet carpet. Tannens and stains in wood will often leave permanent marks when wood is placed directly on wet carpet.

I was to embarrassed to load a before pic because of how dirty it was especially with having a dog 🐶. So off bat an amazing product it was supper easy to assemble, easy to use and even easier clean up. Made a super mix with cleaning supplies specifically targeting pet stains. When I say I didn’t know my carpet was grey 😅 this entire time I thought they where (Dingy Brown) hands down 10 out 10

This is a total review edit. I really had a chance to put this cleaner to the test. I finally had a chance to clean my filthiest area rug. This rug has high traffic and 2 nasty dogs constantly laying on it, one of which is a 145 lbs. This carpet cleaner is worthy of a complete review edit as it far exceeded my expectations! As you can see from my photos (sorry to gross you out) this thing literally had mud caked on the bottom of the dirty reservoir. Thick nasty brown dog water came pouring out of this thing but I’m telling you my rugs are now brand new looking and smell fantastic. It only took me about 10 minutes to put this unit together, fill it and start cleaning! It is easy to take apart and throughly clean. I rarely take the time to redo an entire review but this cleaner is worthy of a complete renovation. For the price and the quality of this item you really can’t go wrong I would 100% recommend this item to a friend, family member or an enemy.

I wanted to love this floor cleaner but would return it if I still could. I have used two others in the past and had good experiences. I tried this cleaner and it left the carpet really wet. The next time I used it, I made sure to follow the directions to make sure it was nothing I did. Same result. I have now used the cleaner 3 times and although the carpet comes clean, I feel it is left way too wet. Makes me think it is not picking up all of the dirt and water that it should be. Takes 2 full days for the carpet to dry.

Purchased new and arrived in mostly factory packaging. The hose had water in it.I have cleared three carpets, stairs and a couch. All went well and were clean. It is very difficult to remove and dump the dirty water container and even harder to put it back. But otherwise works well.
