Beautiful for serving--haven't cooked in them yet
These are stunning for serving, especially if you're doing something like tacos or grain bowls--anything where people are building their own entrees. The colors are rich and the terra cotta makes it feel so classy. I would beware rough bottoms as others have mentioned. These are sturdy and easy to clean, although the unglazed terra cotta does require some extra care. The glazed portion is easy.

Bottoms were a bit rough
These are lovely. The bottoms were a bit rough and I was worried about them scratching my wooden surface. My husband used some fine sandpaper on them and it smoothed out the bottoms very nicely.

These are totally so cool! I can make things in them, oven cook them, and look like a superstar!
First of all, they are REAL Pretty! I can put a nice pudding mix, place them in the oven, cook to perfection, then with a torch, scorch the tops of them and make fancy looking deserts! Can put a nice hot saucy mix in them, put a cracked over it, sunny side up, then put in broiler for a minute or two and make a fancy dish like you see in Romanian/Bulgarian restaurants. My first dish was spaghetti with mozzarella cheese round, under a broiler and wow... fancy smancy dinner hors d'oeuvre ... actually it was spaghetti O's and sandwich cheese over it and into the toaster oven.i took pictures of these along side a tape measure to give you a better size description.then alongside one of my other Amazon bowl purchases. These are so cool to have. Makes dinner funner! Now when I see a recipe that requires dishes like these I can easily make them. Easy to wash.Oh, must say, they hold in the heat VERY well! Just like old fashion clay pots/bowls. I'm sure you will enjoy these as much as I do.Seriously, spaghetti O's with cheese on top. Trust me... DELICIOUS

Rustic and unusual bakeware ramekins
I was drawn to these as I get a lot of use out of single-serving baking dishes and I didn't already have a set in this size or a set made from terracotta., These are a wonderful set of tableware and bakeware that will see a lot of action in my household. The bowls themselves have a delicate, fragile appearance, but in handling them you can tell that they are hard and sturdy, so should be able to stand up to multiple trips from the oven to the table to the sink and back again without chipping.A couple things to note:Since terracotta is very porous, they should probably be hand-washed and not be left to soak in soapy water to prevent the clay from absorbing the flavor of your dish soap. These are oven, safe but not suitable for the microwave, so if baking in the microwave is a must, these might not be the best choice.

Good size, solid quality, but porous where not glazed
We got these mostly for food preparation and they are a good size for this. The quality overall seems nice and they feel sturdy/solid. The glazing on the inside is well done as well and very smooth. However, it is important to point out that the rim and the outsides are not glazed or otherwise finished. This makes them porous so they absorb water and oils. Even after sitting on a warm stove for about an hour, we found there was still some condensation from water being trapped underneath. They are still nice bowls but it's something to keep in mind depending on intended use as they will become stained over time from use.

Nice clay bowl set for presentation
I've used these clay bowls for presentation when I do "serve yourself" buffet style meals. This set is a nice size when you're doing something like a taco bar and want to put out different items for self-serve. They aren't too big or deep, so they work very well for that purpose. Since they have unglazed surfaces on the outside, I would not recommend washing them in the dishwasher - just wash by hand.I haven't tried baking in them, but I suppose that they would hold up just fine. Again, with the unglazed exterior, I think that if something overflowed (like sauce or cheese), it may stain the surface. I definitely recommend these for serving or even use as a single serve pasta bowl.
