My Little Pony: Meet the Ponies of Ponyville: Level 1 (Passport to Reading Level 1)

Great for kids
I'm a brony so I get anything with MLP in it. So, I got this just to see what it was. It's just a very short (32 pages) book about the Mane 6, like their interests, what they're like. That sort of thing. The text is big and basic and it's fully illustrated on every page. it's intended to teach kids how to read better. It's not like the twilight sparkle and the crystal heart spell book or the comics. If you're a parent who has kids that like MLP: this would be a really good buy. The book also lists four things for kids to find while reading. Those are Unicorn, Dragon, Orchard and Letter. Text scavenger hunt, basically. There's also a place at the beginning where they can write their name.If you're a brony who just wants more MLP things: you can justify the purchase by the pictures which look really good. Some come straight from the show, others are drawn for the book but they look the same. The book only costs a few dollars anyway. The passport to reading level 1 thing means:(Straight from the book)Passport to Reading Level 1: Reading Together (Read short words in simple sentence structures together to begin a reader's journey)Passport to Reading Level 2: Reading out Loud (Encourage developing readers to sound out words in more complex stories with simple vocabulary)Passport to Reading Level 3:Reading Independently (Newly independent readers gain confidence reading more complex sentences with higher word counts)Passport to Reading Level 4: Ready to Read More (Readers prepare for chapter books with fewer illustrations and longer paragraphs)So, I'd definitely recommend this to parents who have kids who like MLP but older fans can still get something out of the pictures.

Cute story
This is a nice story and it kind of introduces you to the main 6 ponies. Surely your favorite is amongst those 6. The pictures are nice and bright and they look like the currant ponies. The story is a bit hard for a new reader to handle but that is why it is a level 1 read together book. My daughter 4 really enjoys reading this with me.

It's also easy enough that kids can start learning to read or ...
This is a very cute book for toddlers, preschool and kids just starting to read. I purchased it as a gift for my niece's birthday, i paired it with a pair of my little pony pajamas. The story is age appropriate and keeps their attention. It's also easy enough that kids can start learning to read or to practice reading. Overall I very pleased with my purchase and my niece was ecstatic about her present!

Not for rich kids. Great for all others.
I thought this book was awesome and very informative. My 4 year old niece tossed it aside with the other gifts in her pile immediately after opening it at her birthday party. It's a good add on gift for certain kids who appreciate things that aren't electronic. Pretty and colorful and easy to read for young-ins.

Perfect for the pony lover in your life... or in our case, the "brony"!
A cute inexpensive book for the lover of Ponies in your life. My four-year-old LOVES this book. It's an introduction to their world, so all the ponies get a spotlight in this one. Perfect size for the Easter Bunny to sneak into our son's basket! As a parent, I also appreciate a concise book... it's nice for those selections they want to hear a hundred times. This is a nice length. Not too long that my brain turns off, but just long enough that it can be the only book before bedtime. And nice illustrations!

Must Have for All MLP Fans
This was a fun little book to read to my little girls who btw are huge My Little Pony fanatics. They know "everypony", her story, background, colors, etc. This was actually super fun for me to read aloud to them, because I too was able to learn about the ponies and be slightly up-to-date with what my kids thought was cool.. while trying to match pony voices with my own.. (which btw made my girls laugh!)I would recommend this to parents of 5-10 year olds. A must have for any MLP fan.

Meh for me - but my daughter really likes it
My 3 year old daughter likes this book much more than I do. We have a hard copy of this book and my child would probably give it 4 or 5 stars. We read it aloud often as one of several bedtime stories. It isn't painful to read over and over like some Barbie books, but this is no Peter Rabbit if you know what I mean. I got this reader because her older brother got some readers for practice and she really likes to play with her ponies...My qualms with this book are as follows:1. I feel the quality of the print is a little lacking. You know like it needs more pixels?2. I really dislike reading "everypony" and "nopony" as a single word. And I cannot imagine this is appropriate for a really early reader to read this as one word. Although my daughter is 3 and not yet reading, I still feel that books for little kids should be written correctly regardless of what the ponies say in the show.3. This is not a story per se. It has a few pages on each pony. Literally a meet the ponies kind of book.

Wonderful book for beginners
My three-year-old loves this book! True to its title, it's more of a brief introduction to each pony than a story, but it's also thoughtful written. I like how each pony description segues into the next character, and the illustrations are nice as well. It's also a thin lightweight book so it's easy to toss into my purse for entertainment on the go.
