A5 Pro+ is pretty awesome for a first time laser user.
It's fairly easy to use. The important thing to remember is that it's only as good as the images and instructions you send to it. There are no instructions on how to do that, but that's not the laser's fault. There are far too many things that can be done, tweaked, and situation specific to tell how to do it, so you do need to do a bit of your own research. It might mean paying for software instead of using the free version out there.Pros:* Easy to get started* Instructions are fairly straight forward* The various software programs such as LightBurn (paid) , gimp (free), Big Gimpin' Plugin (paid), imag-r.com (basic feature are free. Advanced features are paid), etc.* Surprisingly powerful (it's my first one so take it with a grain of salt)* It's a pretty bad @$$ laser and with just the two weeks I've been making things, I've made some nice things. I've made some garbage too, it's trial and error.Cons - Most of these are feature I wish it had or I didn't have to pay extra to get.* It doesn't come with an enclosure with exhaust to capture all the smoke and fumes. Which means you need to do it outside until you get that. $50-400 upgrade depending on brand and style. Even some of those require upgrades to get the exhaust part going and some have a filtering window and other do not and them some have a tinted one to reduce it but do not claim to actually properly filter it.* It doesn't come with an air assist. Although it's not a critical upgrade, it seems to be a common feature. $95 upgrade* It doesn't have switches to allow the laser to auto-home. You must manually move to the corner to start or the laser may crash into the sides and the motors will keep trying to send it which will strip the teeth off the belt if you don't catch it. If you always start in the corner and make sure the software knows the laser is in the home position, it's not an issue.* The z axis adjustment seems clunky. You loosen a thumb screw, move it to where you want it and tighten it again. It would be better with an adjustment screw so you can gradually adjust the height for fine control.

Good Product, Better service
Coming from the 3D printer world I have dealt with some Doozies of products with ZERO support.I had a Minor Issue with mine, right out of the box.I was Like Oh Great! Let's see what their support is like before I ship this thing back to Amazon. So, I emailed their support.Within 2 Hours had a response. (this is NOT the Norm when dealing with most offshore vendors, it's overnight at the earliest.)They asked for a Picture. I sent the Picture in.They replied and asked for my shipping information. I gave it to them. When they were ready to ship me the part, I got an email with a Picture of the part, and a tracking number.A week later I had the part and the machine was running as it should. This Is How you do Customer Service!Atomstack, Please don't lose this. You have gained a customer and a friend. How well does the machine work??The learning curve is Steep, But you can do it.It can do just about anything you ask it to do. But Like 3D Printing, it takes time to get there.Engraving is EASY, Look Up the LA Hobby Guy to learn about laser engraving And to get a test grid. You, Will, thank him later for this. The Only issue I had with the machine is I should have coughed up a few extra bucks to get the S10 It's A LOT More Powerful of a Laser. But I can do what I need to with this one for now. and Upgrade later.Buy this Product

Does the job at a great price
Once past some of the annoying little hurdles this machine performs quite well. Assembly was relatively straight forward. Be sure to check that the wheels on the "X-axis component" that roll along the track, spin smoothly before installing it. They can be a little sticky straight out of the box. I applied a little machine oil to the bearings and adjusted the "eccentric nut". When on the track and the belts are tensioned, the nut may need to be adjusted again.LaserGrbl (free software to download) can be somewhat confusing at first. Make sure you find and download the Grbl Configuration guide and set up the parameters before trying to engrave or cut anything. Once that's done running the software is a relative breeze. The slightly higher powered and finer accuracy laser that comes with this A5 Pro+ variant is well worth the small amount extra over the A5 Pro. I don't have photos to share at this time but I can say that some intricate graphics I engraved on hardwood and leather held the detail remarkably well and with very minor pixeling on the edges. I haven't cut anything with it yet but if the sharpness of the engraving is an indicator, cutting should be quite clean. When I produce more pieces and have time I'll share some photos. Overall, this is a good quality machine that delivers bang for the buck.

excellent beginner level laser
It is a very nice and simple beginner-level laser engraver/cutter both for price and difficulty. I have been using it for over 2 months and I can say that I just got very familiar with controls, power, and speed settings. There are a few really important points I realized and wanted to share. First, you must use it in a well-ventilated area. My first try was to engrave wood in my office and all smoke alarms worked at home. Second, make sure to use the right power level, otherwise either you will not get any engraving, or you will get a burned one. I mainly used wood to engrave. The software that came free with the product is very basic and not so accurate but using better engraving software will make your job easier.Assembly was a breeze. I get it done around 30-35 minutes (I am very inclined with this type of work). I really liked how everything was packaged individually and instructed step by step. The laser itself works well but accuracy is a bit off. But still good for an entry-level laser. Overall, it is a great beginner laser with a reasonable price

Puissant et simple
The media could not be loaded.
