A Cruel Review
This is a cruel review because I'm going to discuss one of the best books ever published in the cuckold erotica genre -- and you can't buy it anymore in any format.Author Victoria Wessex (who also published as Victoria Kasari) was one of the most talented and original voices the genre has ever seen. Two of her books in the hotwife/cuckold category under the Kasari name -- "Watching My Wife in Jamaica" and "My Wife, the Escort" -- are still in print and available, and are enthusiastically recommended to any fan of the genre. For whatever reason, however, she took all her "harder" books -- more cuckold than hotwife -- out of print some time ago, including "Cuckolded -- My Wife on the Oil Rig." It features an especially interesting scenario she refined across several books. (Other examples include the equally OOP "Locked Up and Cuckolded" and "Cuckolded -- My Wife at the Renaissance Faire.") In this particular run of stories, Ms. Wessex/Kasari created scenarios where the heroines are deceived into thinking their husbands approve of their extramarital escapades, or that their husbands are bad guys. So they are essentially manipulated by the bulls into becoming hotwives, which would be pretty rapey IRL, but of course this being smut it only liberates them to do what they secretly desire anyway. The husbands, meanwhile, are forced into situations where they have to watch, horrified and outraged, but unable to intervene and (also of course) inexplicably aroused. An interesting spin on the genre's basic elements I don't think I've encountered from any other writer. The Amazon product description accurately describes the present title's variation on this theme: "Three weeks on an oil rig, and she'd be the only woman on board. I wasn't worried at all: my wife was completely faithful. In fact, I even encouraged her to tease the oil workers while I watched via webcam. Then things went horribly wrong. The head of the rig hacked my laptop and, pretending to be me, encouraged my wife to go further and further with him and his buddies. Thousands of miles away, all I could do was watch in horror as they took her again and again...."As noted, Victoria's cuckold books were more hardcore than many in the genre, and tended to push things further. I'm a little reluctant to include spoilers, but since you can't buy them anymore anyway ... let's just say the words "gang," "bang," and "pregnant" would be prominent in full plot synopses for most of them. Her writing is clean and clear, efficient yet intensely erotic. She packs an amazing amount of both story and sex into the short 114 pages of my paperback edition of "Oil Rig."One oddity of note: My copy of the book features the cover accompanying this review, as by Victoria Wessex, but when the author re-released the book under her Kasari nom de plume, the cover model was changed to a rather libidinous-looking blonde. I don't know if it was a photo rights issue or what, but I much prefer the original cover. Not only does it physically match the description of our heroine Heather -- whose hair is "mahogany," worn in "soft ringlets" -- but it better captures her outwardly pure and initially innocent character.
