Berkey Authentic Berkey PF-2 Fluoride and Arsenic Reduction Elements (Set of 2 Elements)

I am the person that usually gets generic brands for disposable things but I don't compromise when it comes about water quality. These filters are absolutely worth it. I don't own Berkley system though, I got a generic brand off Amazon but use these genuine filters because I am confident my family will get quality water. last a long time.

I always buy real Berkey replacement filters. They do a great job of filtering water fairly quickly. I just wish they weren't so expensive!

Easy to install and my water has never tasted better. Got this with this new filter with the Berkey system and I’m very happy with my purchase. Side note/ side story. I have been battling a UTI for months. Two rounds of antibiotics and noting touched it. Two weeks after drinking from this filtering system it was completely gone. They were thinking it was my kidneys. I believe this helped, clean water does magic!

I ordered through Amazon Prime (I believe delivered by Amazon Warehouse). Arrived fast. 1 brown "rubber" rings was MIA.While not essential (I used the black filter screw/nut(?) instead. Easy to misstep and turn past the "8 rotations" (read manual for why it is a no-no) vs the one w/ the brown ring (feat of strength if you wanted more than 8 turns).I think I popped the screen w/ 8th rotation going into 9/10 as I tried to secure the filters.Sigh. Water ran super milky afterward, I disassembled and flushed again (no idea if that was because I popped the screen). Now things appear working okay.This is my 3rd purchase of this item after a long hiatus (I had a local spring water delivery service). Despite devotion in pregnancy/baby years to distilled water, my kid developed terrible dental fluorosis (so many sources for fluoride, including canned soups, tea, bread - as in the water from baking, etc.). The kid (now a teen) has never been studied for skeletal fluorosis but has an unusual amount of stiffness/joint pain. Anyhow, if I was suspicious about drinking fluoride in pregnancy, the discoloration of my kids teeth (and presumably, his future bone health) resulted in a quest to find ways to remove fluoride from routine consumption - which I soon learned was quite difficult! Always needing a special filter to remove fluoride and many times are unavailable w/ whatever filter system you want to use or cost a lot/add to install complications. Of all the filter systems, Berkey has been the most overall practical if you want the option to remove fluoride and I no longer consider any other choices.There is a trade off - the filters are in the bottom tank and that means you will have less water available for immediate use - this can be an issue the smaller size of your Berkey. Remember to keep track of use, you wont notice if this filter no longer works, as you could from taste on the black filters. These filters will need to be replaced more often.Bonus - how often do you find an affordable filtration that can remove fluoride and chloramines (two of the hardest things to remove from your tap water!!!!!! Thank you Berkey!(On the subject of fluoride - consumption is unnecessary to prevent cavities and why warning labels exist on toothpaste. Yes, there is a folly in distilled water as an exclusive source. As with any water that removes minerals, its important to find alternatives sources - especially in North America were our water's mineral content can be severely lacking in the water supply.This is a benefit of the Berkey is that minerals will remain, and removals are targeted, for example, this filter counters fluoride salt ions.)

We had this a few years back and the water tasted great over the Kansas tap water. Will buy it again but the next size filter up.

I had purchased an off brand of these filters and discovered that they had molded horribly in just two months so went back to the originals, which have always provided superior service

I have been using my Berkey for about 18 months. I'm on city water which is chlorinated and fluoridated. I have been enjoying fresh water. The thing that has been annoying me is the Berkey requires me to have two pf2 fluoride and arsenic filters hanging from the bottom of my Berkey chamber and soak in the lower clean water chamber.1) I'm all worked up about my drinking water but it is ok for it to soak non stop in plastic?2) the last two times I've cleaned out my Berkey, the pf2 filters had a bright yellow stain leaking from the units, both of them. Like lemon pie yellow. Like a bright yellow fluid seeped out of it. I called Berkey and they claimed they had never heard of it. It rubs off if you scrub the exterior of the filters. I was worried so I purchased another set of pf2 filters. Checked again....bright yellow leaking out of the unit in long stripes. Seriously? Also, the filtering media was sifted out into my drinking water and was collected at the bottom. Called Berkey. The plastic like white pellet shavings at the bottom of your clean water Cannister? No, fear. That is just manufacturing dust, totally insert, very safe. IN MY DRINKING WATER? I'm paying money every year to filter minute amounts of stuff from my water and I'm supposed to be all chill about manufacturing dust soaking in my drinking water? Apparently, the priming they recommend isn't good enough. You have to swish water and shake cannister for five minutes holding fingers at either end, then prime right side up, then prime upside down, then right side up. Or the screen holding the media in might be damaged and leaking the media out. !!??! Which is activated allumina whatever that is (apparently not same as aluminum?)3) I learned that activated alumina they use to filter fluoride only filters naturally occurring fluoride. Not all the other garbage fluorides we have in our water as well. And yes you will see 99.9 percent removed on their lab report, but if you call the envirotek lab, they only test for naturally occurring fluoride. So "fluoride" isn't all fluoride it seems.Tired of this nonsense, I researched more filters and came across aquacera filters. They seem to have pretty good filtration percentages including glyphosates. I don't think theirs does virus removal but honestly, I'm not camping in the jungle and my city water is vigorously potable (hello heavy chlorine) so I'm not going to worry. Theirs removes fluoride all in one candle with nothing hanging into your clean water. And the fluoride it does filter is all categories of fluoride not just naturally occurring.It also doesn't require ridiculous priming charades. Instructions come with it. Also, expect to change your filter at reasonable intervals, maybe once a year, not the five that Berkey told me I was good for. Not only did my filter and rubber seals smell moldy after 18 months, I'm wondering how good it was even filtering by then. A filter is a sponge and when it fills up, it's filtering capacities decrease slowly. Berkey told me to soak the rubber rings for at least an hour in fifty fifty vinegar solution snd boil for 5 minutes. Didn't even make a difference. They said the musty odor of my carbon candles would be corrected by adding sixteen drops of bleach to my water and letting it filter thru. I shouldn't have to bleach my candles.So far I'm pleased with these aquacera filters and the water tastes different. Not in a bad way. It tastes a little more like reverse osmosis water (my inlaws have one). Berkey tasted fresh as well but had a sweet aftertaste (not unpleasant).I bought two imperial aquacera cerametix 7" ones directly from the aquacera company website and they arrived quickly.I have zero affiliation or connection with either Berkey or aquacera. I want hassle free clean drinking water. Also, I'm not getting a suspect product where I have to pay nearly $80 a year to filter fluoride out, and I'm not happy at all with the quality and twice in a row, loses my trust.
