This is the one brand that I've found outlasts every other one we have ever tried in my 43 years at this location. I planted over 600 small trees between 40-43 years ago and living on the Colorado plains, they required regular watering over all these years - and I still water these trees, using the hydrants. I have many hydrants, but I learned by accident that the Merrill is far superior to the other brands.It is SO much work to dig up and replace a hydrant, there is never a good place to use cheap Chinese hydrants that break and leak. I've learned this lesson after digging up the cheap other brands. I discovered the Merrill when my dad bought me one many years ago and it is still working perfectly and not leaking. Examining the hydrant, I was very impressed with the build quality and the design. The new design with the locking nuts is far superior to the old style lock bolt to the pull rod.Too bad you cannot buy a 5' bury Merill hydrant on Amazon.

Works much better than the brands made in China.
