like, at all
This is not my typical purchase, like, at all.I'm 39. I have a classmate who's 8. She's way smarter than me, but this book is totally giving this old shlomo an edge.Does it have pictures & fun illustrations? Jew betcha!Does it encourage learning in a fun & effective fashion? Bet your barucha!Does it explain different aspects of Judaism & holidays? Jew know it!My Rabbi says I've got great potential. Honest to blog, I credit this workbook.

assuming the student already used to hearing hebrew
This primer seems predicated on already being familiar with Hebrew language & Jewish home life, such as a child born & raised into it -- as a primer for a rank newbie, probably not so good

Odd structure
While the photos are beautiful, the structure of this book is odd. For example, it will introduce you to the letter resh....what it looks like, practice writing it etc. But then right away, it has you read full sentences that not only contains that letter, but other letters and vowels that the book hasn't covered yet. And there is no translation to the sentences. So the introduction to the letters is too basic for my son who can already read Hebrew, but the reading is too difficult for my other son who is a beginner. So, I have no idea what level this book is.

and you will do fine. Thank you
It helped me with my Jewish Prayers for my conversion. Must order if you want to learn Hebrew quickly. One note: must at least do one page a day to retain info. I am a teacher myself, and found myself not remembering the alphabet, after three or four days of not practice. Keep practicing, and you will do fine. Thank you!

Perfect for 3rd grader
This book is just the right level for my 3rd grader, who is just learning Hebrew. With a younger child, I would probably start with the pre-primer level, Shalom Alef-Bet!, but my 3rd grader would have been fine to start right in with this level. The exercises are short and fun, and include both phonics and vocabulary. We work through the reading together, and then she completes the exercises on her own.

great book for anyone new to learning Hebrew
great book for anyone new to learning Hebrew. I would suggest a strong Aleph Bet study first to familiarize yourself with the letters.
