I attached this to the bottom of my cylinder feeder to catch the food that would normally fall to the ground. Not only did it save food from falling to the ground creating a mess but it gave the birds easier access to the existing feeder.

Was looking for feeders for my wintering natives that are easy to clean THOROUGHLY and quickly and disinfect. Wanting to minimize spread of common avian diseases seen from congregation at feeders, like conjunctivitis, but still provide supplemental food assurance for my feathered neighbors who are already suffering habitat loss and declining numbers, I was looking for hanging dish/tray feeders that could be kept out of reach from the ninja squirrels and be easy to assemble/disassemble, clean, and disinfect. I'm done with the other bird feeders with all the knooks and crannies and tiny holes, etc. where it's hard to clean properly and seed gets stuck and grows mold and bacteria. It takes a lot of time to do the weekly cleaning and disinfecting of those and it's a nightmare when it rains. This feeder fit the bill. I bought a bunch and they're spread out on all of my feeder poles, ninja squirrels still can't get past the pole skirts, and I just remove the dishes from the hangers to bring inside to do an easy scrub in hot, soapy bleach water, rinse well, dry, and put back out. And the thankful juncos and chickadees are on standby for their seed refill.

We used to throw seed out on the patio but we were getting so many birds it was becoming quite dirty.Once we got this and put it in a tree near the patio, the birds all wait for their breakfast on the branches of the tree until we fill it.We get the benefits of the birds without all the mess

We took it out of the chains and set it in just a ring onto a pole. I have a bird cam and the motion of it swinging set off the camera. Good size I was really surprised one morning as I had a male cardinal, male goldfinch and 5 sparrows all in it eating and getting along. It was colorful and beautiful...I just can't get the photo to load.

Just the right size and my birds love it.
