Here’s what ya need to know to be successful...
It’s true! Older versions of this product slide together with bare hands and little effort. I know because I found some off the List that begins with a “C” that came out of a lady’s garage. Smooth use. Then I figured I’d try these here. The pieces take SO much effort to assemble. Multiple times I threw down my rubber mallet and stormed off in a huff. But I really needed these for a veggie garden project. Here’s what we discovered..1. You MUST have a hard cement or wood work surface. Assemble these piece by piece on the hard surface pounding the pieces together with a rubber mallet.2. You need a rubber head mallet or hammer! This is a must!3. Get the pieces started about 1/2 an inch or more (if you can haha) and then pound the rest.4. You need a garden half moon edging tool! Dig out your straight line to place the edging into.5. Take your finished edging (really long now) and place it into pre dug edge line. Then pound it down with your rubber mallet. As a comparison the older versions took me about 30 minutes to do an 4’x9’ rectangle garden bed. The newer versions took me about an hour once I got the trick.Benefit is these things aren’t going to come apart. Like ever. Aside from tightness, they are nice and smooth. They look okay in the ground. FYI: they do not make right angles, just rounded corners.3 Stars because they aren’t horrid once you get the hang of assembly and be sure you have the tools and hard work surface! But they are definitely tough to work with. Lots of hitting and shoving the pieces.

My first return to Amazon
This is the first item I have ever returned to Amazon. I had installed 4 boxes of this same edging which I purchased from Wal-Mart. They were out of stock, so I looked up the very same product on Amazon. Two boxes of edging arrived quickly and in good condition. The boxes were identical to my previous purchase. Then I tried to install the edging. Tried and tried with 6 pieces. The pieces would not stay together! When I tried to put them in the ground, the tongue and groove pieces would come apart. I also noticed the product was thinner and flimsy. I opened the second box, thinking perhaps just one box had been overlooked by quality control. Same problem, same product. I don't know if Suncast changed this product and kept the same packaging. I just know the product I am returning is inferior.

IMPOSSIBLE !
I bought 3 boxes of this and it is IMPOSSIBLE to put together ! I had a box leftover from 8 years ago and it went together EASY ! These new ones I got they made the male insert WAY to FAT and even using a Mallet you can't get them inserted ! I am going to try Vasoline on the ends and maybe then they will slide together. This is an update. I put Vasoline on each end and used a hammer and the pieces DID go together , but only after using lubrication

excellent.
I had bought some of these a couple of years ago and needed some more. I could no longer find them in and brick and mortar store so checked Amazon. They were the same product at a reasonable price and were shipped quickly. I used them to border a sidewalk where I had filled in with mulch and some bushes. The sidewalk provides a sturdy brace, so they don't fall outward ,after pushing them into the dirt. They are a little difficult to slide together, but you can just tap them in. A little soap or lubricant makes it easier.

Prettier than my last edging
The Suncast Quick Edge comes in a little box in short sections that have to be joined together. From the photo, I thought it came in a roll. Just pound each piece in with a mallet. Some parts of my yard are very hard, so pounding with a mallet made the tops a little frayed and I had to just leave it higher on the ground than I'd like. Most of the time, things went smoothly. It's prettier than the previous edging I had and it's easy enough for someone like me who's not into hard labor. I'm buying two more boxes to finish off my project._____________________UPDATE: I just bought my fourth and final box. The project went smoothly. I found that it was easiest for me to stick the edging on a hard surface (I used a big rock) and pound a good length of it together with a mallet. Then, I use a manual edger similar to Radius Garden 206 PRO Ergonomic Stainless Steel Edger to mark the path I need the edging to go. I place the edging into that path and tap a little. This was especially helpful when making hard turns. Radius Garden 206 PRO Ergonomic Stainless Steel Edger
